This is a south African blend of 64% Shiraz, 24% mourvedre, 5% Grenache, 3.5% carignan, and 3.5% cinsault....whew! Dull, clear red in color. not much on the nose. Some burn from the alcohol, but very little fruit. Raspberries, some acidity, citrus. This is a well made wine. Every grape in this blend shows a little of itself on the palate. Nothing is hiding and this would make a good food wine.

Light and vibrant in color. This wine is a blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 10% cinsault. Not much on the nose. A small amount of fruit. Very closed nose. Big mouth...lots of fruit and acidity. Balanced tannins. Some smoke and bramble. Excellent wine. Shows much better than the 2009. Hopefully the next vintage will improve with time.

Had this at the college square tasting on Saturday, February 4th. This is a big wine for the price ($11.99 tasting price). Lots of fruit and big mouth feel. Fruity nose and big tannins. Vibrant red color edges that go to a deep red hue. Purchased 3 bottles and curious how the wine turns out.

Bright and vibrant red in color. Light fruit on the nose. Big acidity on the palate and some fruit showing through. This would make a good every day food wine. Not much complexity but enough acidity to cleanse the palate after every bite. Decent wine for the money...currently selling for $7.99. I have a 1998 Reserve Rioja from this same producer in the cellar that is excellent.

Dull, clear red in color. Smoke, bramble and bacon fat on the nose. Would not be surprised if there was a bit of mourvedre in this wine. Acidity on the palate...bacon flavored camp fire, best way to describe the palate. I like this wine. Hoping it will open up a bit after it breathes a bit.

Bright and vibrant in color for being 8 years old. Clear. Big punch in thee nose...acidity, light fruit. Lots of fruit and some acidity on the palate. Not over the top. Well balanced and somewhat mellow for its age. Smooth to the very end. This is a blend of 96% Zin, 3% petite sirah, and 1% carignane. I would have to argue that there may be a bit more carignane than listed as it comes across on the palate. Overall a well made wine and worth the wait.

Notes of motor oil and light fruit on the nose. Tasted like a huge oil slick on the palate...some acidity. Overall a very good wine for the price. Not your typical cab.

Deep rich color, light fruit and musk on the nose, dirt on the nose as well as drippings from a steak similar to Salisbury steak! Caramel. BIG tannin's, some acidity.... tannin's for days. Very light fruit. Very good deep complex wine.

Gold color. Chewy, vanilla, almond palate. Unlike any sparkler I have ever drank.

I really enjoyed the 2006 much better, but I am hoping this wine will improve over time. Lot of fruit and light tannins on the palate.
