One of my favorite pinots from Cameron - delish and good price point!! Drinking fantastically now! This bottle lacked the usual funk - very refined.

Smokey with a little Cameron funk. Restrained spiciness with tang and acidity from red fruits. Balanced, silky and has elegant restraint.

Decanted for about 30 minutes at the restaurant. Smells of red fruit, herbs/spice and anise. Palate of red fruit and acidity with a touch of anise or licorice flavor. Delicious now. Will love to see this as it evolves.

70% syrah, 20% grenache & the remaining Carignan & Mourvedre from Cotes du Rhone. Meh. Just ok. But for the price (<$15), it was a good buy. Dry with some dark red fruit (raspberry, black cherry) on the palate with medium finish. Herbal and licorice notes present. At the end of drinking window.

Grenache and syrah blend. Deep garnet color with berry notes. Medium body and meaty with purple/black fruits and a hint of licorice or anise. Paired with ham dinner. Very good for price point (glad I bought a few more bottles!). May have a few more years on it.

I've been squirreling away a magnum of this for quite some time. I knew it was overdue for popping the cork. I brought it to my birthday dinner at a Spanish tapas place.

PnP and consumed with friends over the course of dinner. I didn't expect much as 2007 was not a great growing year. I believe it was a wet year. However, this wine aged like a champ!!

I was a little nervous as it was poured into the glass. It was light ruby in color. One sip and I breathed a sigh of relief. Palate of tart red fruits and forest floor. Some smokey and vanilla notes. Drinking very smooth with nice acidity showing its complexity and soft tannins. Medium to long finish. This is drinking fabulously now!! I just wish I had more!!

Picked this as my Happy Birthday wine of the night. Great selection!! Opened this about 1 hour prior to dinner to let breathe. Drinking well right now but I'm also excited to see how this one evolves.

Tasted without food first. Aromas of smoke, wild mushrooms and sour red fruits. Palate complex and tastes of red cherries, cranberries and cedar. Nice acidity and tannin are not powerful. Tasted even better with a steak dinner. Beautiful wine!! Bravo Cameron, bravo!!

Dry and crisp with hints of pear and citrus. Good representation of a Greek Santorini. If you close your eyes, you may just feel like you're on an island. =)

Red Wine Tasting Party - Smokey, spicy and aromas of red fruit. Smells delicious! All the aromas continue onto the palate and are complex and intertwined. Silky and smooth with nicely integrated tannins. Nice long finish. Favorited by more than a few that night.

Red Wine Tasting Party - Dark red to purple. Leather with spice and ripe red to dark fruit aromas and matching on the palate with hints of oak. Low acid and tannins are well entwined with a nice finish. Excellent value wine. A favorite of some at the party.

Red Wine Tasting Party - Opened an hour before tasting. No decant. Initially, aromas of barnyard funk with hints of dark berries. After swirling and air, the aromas changed to saline like qualities (reminded me of seaweed on the beach). Delicious but still young. Dark red and purple berries. Full bodied and plush. Soft and silky with a long finish! 14.5% alcohol content still shows.

Red fruit but too sweet for a pinot noir for my taste. Medium acidity and short finish. Lacks complexity in a pinot. Still a good wine but just not my style.

I agree with other posters that this one probably needs more time. I Pnp as I was excited about the spring 2013 release. A little acidic right now and tart with bright cherry and cranberry fruit. Well balanced. Paired very well with a salmon dinner. Will revisit on day 2 as others have said air does it well.

PnP - Ick. What's the bitter taste? *bitter wine face* Not impressed. After about an hour or so of breathing, wine opened up. Bitter aftertaste is mostly gone. However, would not purchase again. Much better 2008's out there.

Ruby colored. Brought to a French restaurant for lunch, therefore decanted for only 15 minutes before we started in on it. Aroma of red fruits and hints of spice. Red and black fruits on the palate with hints of floral essence, anise and a faint spiciness. As the wine aerated, it became looser with a longer silky finish. Would decant longer if it were possible but very good PnP. Table agreed it was a very nice wine!

"Found" this beauty in the cellar. Made me smile thinking of a trip to Santorini. I was concerned because of its age and decided to open it to test it. Pnp: age has definitely changed the taste. It has definitely lost some of it's minerality with age. Flavors changed from sharp crisp lemon and lime fruits to more mellow melon and stone fruit. It's developed into a more rich wine. Not bad at all but definitely a departure of what I remember it being.

Pnp: Dark garnet hue. Complex aroma of red/purple fruit, floral and hint of spice. Medium body wine with hints of dark berries. Smooth with medium finish. Nice balance and acidity. Even better on day #2. Picked up for a great deal at Costco - will be back for more!!

Screw top cap. Right out of the bottle this wine had a petrol smell to it that eventually faded with air time. Sweet with hints of pear and apple. Lacked acidity and balance.

Brought to dinner at a restaurant. Waiter decanted and we allowed to breath for about 30 min before pouring. Drank this following a very fruit forward pinot noir. Differences were very evident.

Wine opens up with air and time. At first very tannic and herby. Later it evolved into a wine with more structure with dark fruits and hints of herbs tasted earlier. Tannins balance out and paired nicely with the food. A little confusing wine at present. Wonder if a little age will solve this?

Brought to dinner at a restaurant. PnP and enjoyed right out of the gate. This was my first experience with the Russian River Pinots. Very fruit forward but not cloying. Smooth drinker with warm red fruit and very little tannin and acids on the palate. Very easy to drink and was a crowd favorite. Very different from the Oregon and Sonoma Coast Pinots that I'm used to. Not enough of the structure that I'm used to. Still very enjoyable.

Penner Ash Pre-Thanksgiving Tasting (Fall 2013)
Nice contrast to the Elevee pinot noir. While Elevee is a more elegant wine, this bottle commands attention. Dark black berries with a rich and silky mouthfeel. A smoky finish with hints of floral. Well balanced now but will need a few years to cellar. This was my favorite of the day at Penner Ash. This is shaping up to be an excellent bottle.
