Opened my last bottle, along side a Cayuse 2011 Cailloux Vineyard Syrah. What a delightful surprise the Paloma was! It had been cellared since the original purchase from Paloma.
Notes from the group:
Faint nose, but still some fruit. Color is still dark, but no bricking.
Tasting revealed no sense of being too old - still beautiful fruit. Tasted like deep, heavy black cherry. Fully resolved tannins, not at all thin. Great mouthfeel, no hard edges with gorgeous fruit flavors that went on and on the back of the tongue. Still some complexity - the flavors kept changing. It's too bad Paloma no longer produces Syrah!

Perfect. I coravin’d it thinking i would just have a glass, but…..pop and pour. :). This was my last bottle and it makes me sad. Could’ve waited longer, but I would say drink up.

Agree with others - this is balanced, with ripe fruit. Used a Coravin to try a glass. Absolutely delicious after about 20 minutes in the glass.

This is one of my favorite Pinots. Decanted for about 45 minutes, and enjoyed at a backyard pizza party.

Great mouth feel; not much fruit left but opened up nicely over Italian dinner. Too bad Viader no longer does Tempranillo!

Drank over several days and enjoyed the classic Pride Merlot. Not ready for pnp, still tight, needs a decant at this stage.

Great nose upon opening; did not decant, used Coravin on first day for an on-line Ridge tasting. Very good but way too tight; opened up over the next three days, but didn't quite come together as I had hoped.

I was worried this was past it’s prime after using the Coravin for a glass. But upon opening, it really came to life over the course of 2 hours. Still balanced fruit and tannins. Very enjoyable.

This was a fantastic bottle of Howell Mountain Cab. A short decant was sufficient, drank in one evening with grilled steaks. Not too early to enjoy!

Definitely smooth and balanced. Drank over two nights, using Coravin first night, popping and drinking on night 2. Easily drinkable right out of bottle, but opened into a delicious treat.

Not sure if this is just too old; I was hoping for the best, but I couldn’t detect much pleasurable about this bottle. I do have another bottle - I’ll update this after trying that sometime soon.

Opened on a chilly new year’s day in Southern California. Not much fruit evident on the nose or first tasting, but it opened up as the wine warmed up and was decanted. It was very good with our home made chili and chili dogs but this wasn’t one of my favorite Pride Syrahs. Luckily I have a couple of more and will wait a few months before I try the next one.

Very delicious. Had at backyard BBQ and went side-to-side with a 2014 Keenan Cab Franc, also from Spring Mtn. The Keenan was ready to drink and was smooth as silk. The Pride would've benefited from a decant and was still delicious, but I will wait another year to open my next bottle.

Ready to drink and a great California Malbec. Lots of chunky sediment. Enjoyed over 2 nights and did not decant. But second night was really delicious so a decant on Night 1 would be good.

What a pleasant surprise. Enjoyed with our Easter Dinner of brisket/pot roast. Still fruity, balanced. No decanting necessary. Opened a 2008 Viader, and a 2004 Paloma Syrah for this dinner. The Pride was the house favorite. Just a fantastic, easy to enjoy bottle of wine! (The Paloma Syrah was my favorite, because it was still a contender.). The Viader was a great bottle as well. No complaints, but on this evening the Pride Merlot was voted #1.)

Paloma doesn't make this Syrah anymore, which is sad. This 2004 from their original block was my favorite. I fell in love with the earthy, fruity, flavor and am now a big Syrah fan.

Opening this today was a great surprise. It is still great. This has been stored carefully since I got it. It certainly is "time to drink", but is not too late. All of the original characteristics are still on display. I wish I had more!!! (One bottle left.)
