December 4, 2023 - Opened my last bottle, along side a Cayuse 2011 Cailloux Vineyard Syrah. What a delightful surprise the Paloma was! It had been cellared since the original purchase from Paloma.
    Notes from the group:
Faint nose, but still some fruit. Color is still dark, but no bricking.
Tasting revealed no sense of being too old - still beautiful fruit. Tasted like deep, heavy black cherry. Fully resolved tannins, not at all thin. Great mouthfeel, no hard edges with gorgeous fruit flavors that went on and on the back of the tongue. Still some complexity - the flavors kept changing. It's too bad Paloma no longer produces Syrah!

March 2, 2023 - Light red in color, translucent from core to rim. Not much on the nose. Sharp on the palate, cherries, blackberries. Fine tannins, sharp acidity, bit out of balance. Finishes short and hot. Past prime. Drinkable but not by much.

October 11, 2019 - While much of the fruit has faded, there is still enough that goes well with spicy food. Still some hints of blackberry and apricot.

April 16, 2017 - Paloma doesn't make this Syrah anymore, which is sad. This 2004 from their original block was my favorite. I fell in love with the earthy, fruity, flavor and am now a big Syrah fan.

Opening this today was a great surprise. It is still great. This has been stored carefully since I got it. It certainly is "time to drink", but is not too late. All of the original characteristics are still on display. I wish I had more!!! (One bottle left.)

November 2, 2014 - 18th Annual Lyon 10 Year Retrospective (Lyon Down Inn): The texture of this wine made it stand out in this flight: black velvet! No Elvis. Dark fruit, earth and pepper. This has resolved smooth tannins and very nice depth. 91 on day 2.
