If this is a 'poor' vintage.... I'd hate to see the 'good' vintage!!!

4/22/16, 12:56 AM - I agree all the 2011 pinot noirs and chardonnays I've had are really good. 2011 has a poor vintage reputation from the cabernet side of things I guess.

Very reductive on opening, so I decanted 2/3 of the bottle. The reduction didn't really fade over the next 3-4 hours -- I got one sip in four hours that really showed what the wine could be, and that sip was lovely, but the rest of the time it was too reductive to show much.

48 hours later, the reduction is gone from the remaining 1/3 of the bottle but the air has gotten to the wine slightly, it's still drinkable but a little short and twingey.

My third bottle of Metras -- one has been bretty, one yeasty/oxidative, one reductive. I've yet to see the magic and at these prices I'm not sure I'm willing to keep trying when I can drink Foillard at 60% of the price.

1/18/16, 10:58 PM - I've opened 3 bottles of 2014 Metras (1 ultime and 2 Fleurie VV) all with heavy reductive elements. I'm with you, not spending this much for these wines in the future

Actually this really is not a tasting note but need help. For those of you that drink Schrader (I just got my first four pack last year) and also had Scarecrow----is Scarecrow worth the tariff of $900 for a three pack. I obviously will be purchasing Schrader wines every year but have a hard time with Scarecrow with their price. For $900 I can load up on some reasonable good wine. However if Scarecrow is simply a wine experience not to be missed I would not hesitate buying the 2013 three pack. Your thoughts are most appreciated. Dave

A tester bottle ! Very pale straw color. Nose very primary with Granny Smith apples, lime, redcurrant, strawberry, brioche and nougat. Palate very linear and quite intense. Fine bead with a very lifted acid and grape tannin on the long finish. Quite delicious yet just a baby albeit a very attractive one ! Still loving the 96 which this is very reminiscent of.
