First time trying this, one glass out of coravin, drunk over a couple of hours. Tastes a little astringent and the acidity is noticeable. Some fruit in the background. I think the potential is there but perhaps just not ready yet. I'll try decanting the rest of the bottle for longer to see if it opens up.

First of a six pack. PnP but drank over several hours and it gained in complexity. Pretty aromatics, red fruited, spicy and airy. Decent structure and texture. The tannins are still a little chewy and not quite integrated yet. This is definitely open for business but I suspect will get quite a bit better.

Last of three bottles. Drinking really well now. Fruit flavours are more black fruit and a little bit of spice on the end. Tannins nicely integrated. Grippy acidic backbone and decent finish.

Second of two bottles (sadly the last). It was reserved at first but opened up in the glass to become a near perfect pinot with a just stunning combo of primary and developing flavours, and with all the elements in beautiful balance. One of my guests said it was the best pinot he'd ever tried! If you have any of these I recommend trying one.

Ripe, oaky and a little spicey. Excellent concentration. All the ingredients are there and it probably improves with time when everything integrates better.

Struggled a bit in the past with this wine, but this one is excellent today. It's just starting to develop some more aged flavours, but is retaining a freshness with lovely crisp acidity. Intense and long. I think it's right at it's peak now.

Bought at the winery many years ago. Pleased I waited until now to open it as the wine is showing all the complexity of flavours that I like from Nebbiolo. No doubt it will continue evolving for many more years. Right now it has that lovely combination of fruit flavours, both black and red, as well as some signs of maturity. Tannins are still noticeable but well on their way to being fully integrated. It needed 10-20 mins in the decanter to open up and was still going strong on day 2.

Definitely open for business. Crisp, stony, salty, with an attractive ripeness too. Lemon, honey flavours on the end. Bought this at the estate. Can't remember what I paid but not very much.

Beautiful aromatics, mix of berries and florals (after a little aeration). Really very fine, balanced with good length. Just a little heat on the finish. Tannins still noticeable. I suspect it's not showing all its capable of yet although still a lovely wine. Try again in a few years.

A good example here of why it sometimes pays to be patient with Burgundy. On opening it was difficult to drink, tight, not much pleasure. Started to soften up a little after 4 hours. But on day 2 - after 24 hours in the fridge - wow, what a difference, now there is red fruit, stony freshness, vibrant acidity, expansive on the finish. Tannins still showing somewhat so will wait a few years to try my other bottle.

Clearly some age from the appearance. More black fruited, some spicy complexity, fine almost dusty like tannins and bracing refreshing acidity. This was surprisingly evolved already although should still last for a long time.

First of a case. Decanted and drunk over the course of six hours. Red currant and some background spice on the nose. Medium, almost light bodied, but this is deceptive as there is a mass of concentration of flavour. Black cherry, spicy, savoury. Really lovely balance here, elegant and very long. Definitely developed complexity after a few hours in the decanter. This is drinking well now, which wasnt the case for the 2012 I tried last year. Pleased I've got a few more of these.

First from a case of six. Great balance of red cherry, raspberry, background spice and fresh acidity. Not particularly complex but just lovely to drink and surprisingly long too. No doubt it will get better with time but based on tonight's showing I think I might be drinking most of my bottles on the young side.

Had this a few days ago, the first of my three bottles. It didn't disappoint. Great fruit concentration, juicy with lovely aromatics. I was worried it might be closed but it was showing well (after an hour or two in the decanter). Held it's own alongside Clos de Tart 2005 and Rousseau Charmes 2005. Try again in 5+ years.

Drunk over two days without decanting. On the first day, it was showing lovely fresh aromatics but the palate seemed a bit disjointed - all the elements for a great wine were present but somehow they just didn't come together to create something more than the sum of the parts. This changed on the second day when there was a lot more complexity - rich dark cherry flavour, fine tannins, fresh acidity and very long. Great potential - I think it needs a while before it will show it's best. Will try again in a few years.

Dark, almost purple. Brambly berry like aroma. Black fruited, ripe black cherry and blackcurrent. Middle weight, well balanced with crisp acidity. Tannins not fully integrated yet but it's still lovely to drink. Punches above its weight. Will keep my other two bottles for a few years.

Complex aromas comprising blackberry, fresh bilberry, leather, tobacco and black liquorice. Darker fruit profile on the palate. Medium body with fine tannins which are surprisingly well integrated and only really noticeable on the finish. As usual with this wine, the acidity is high and the finish long. Should last for many years but definitely worth trying now as its showing a complex combo of primary and secondary flavours.

A bit spritzy on opening. After an hour or so in the glass, it showed sweet lime and apple with a classic stoney Riesling backbone of acidity. Paired very well with a moderately spiced Indian dal.. Should continue to evolve for many years.

Fresh raspberry and red cherry. More body than most Bourgognes, juicy and satisfying. It has just enough acidity to keep me coming back for more.

Needed about an hour to open up aromatically. A pleasant, if not particularly complex, aroma of red cherry, raspberry and a slight leafiness. On the palate, the fruit flavors are more sour and a little green, although there is a charming sensual texture, soft and lightish body with a savouriness on the end that is also showing a bit of green pepper which I have certainly noticed in other 2011s. I don’t remember liking this much when I last had it a few years ago. This outing is certainly an improvement, although I’m still not totally sure if or when it will all come together. Perhaps the greenness will integrate better with tertiary notes once it has a a bit more age. I’ll hold the rest of my bottles for a few more years and keep my fingers crossed.

Did not decant and drunk over 2.5 hours. Pale ruby. Fragrant red fruit aromas which evolved to become more stemmy and meaty after a while in the glass. Fresh, vibrant acidity, like crushed rocks. Fine tannins that still need some more time to settle. Concentrated black cherry with a lick of spice on the end. Great persistence. Lovely wine, very pleased I've got a few more of these.

From Coravin with 30 mins aeration in the glass. Elegant aromatic profile showing blackberry, black cherry and tea leaf. Medium body with grainy, mouth coating tannins that still need more time to integrate. Juicy black fruit on the surprisingly long finish. All is in balance here. Try again in a few years. Pleased I've got a few more of these.

As with my previous bottles, this benefited enormously from a little aeration. On opening it was shy on the nose and a bit simple on the palate. After half an hour or so it had blossomed into a wonderfully fragrant, elegant and savoury wine. Black cherry and raspberry with some background spice, a sensual texture with that ethereal quality sometimes found in the wines of Montille. The best (and sadly the last) of my four bottles.

Deep garnet. Pleasantly fragrant but not especially complex or powerful. Red and black fruits, still some tannin and a bit of oak showing. Savoury and persistent on the finish. I think this has the raw material to be a lot better in time but is not at its best right now.

Cassis, pencil shavings, medium body, retaining a savoury freshness despite its age. Tannins are still noticeable on the end and a little bit drying. Enjoyable, not especially complex and drinking well now.

This shows a beautiful bouquet of white flowers and citrus which developed into more stony notes with time in the glass. Really gets the balance right between enticing fruit and honey flavours, steely minerality and mouthcoating textute. Nothing is out of place. Concentrated but not hugely so. Super long on the finish.

This shows lovely pure red berry fruit with a background of mossy earthy and slightly gamey notes. The tannins are still present but amazingly fine grained that they are only noticeable on the end. This will definitely improve. Not decanted and definitely benefited from some time in the glass to open up.

Appearance shows some age but you'd never guess nearly 60 years. Leather, cigar box, gravel combine with raisened berry notes. There is still a sweetness of fruit which give the wine life. Lovely molten texture. Such a joy to try this.

Wow this is seriously good. Lime and grapefruit combines with sour apples, mouth watering acidity and a long refreshing finish. Definitely one of the best Kabinett Rieslings I've ever had; shame I've only got one more bottle.

Four years since my last bottle and the flavour profile has changed a little, less ripe now and there a slightly sour cherry note, but still with the same vibrancy, refreshing acidity and long savoury finish. Really very good for its level.

Promising nose, scented with a slight medicinal note. Palate seems unyielding (even after after some hours or aeration), with a lot of dry extract and concentration, drying tannins and slightly bitter on the finish. Not really sure what to make of this. I didn't really enjoy it much but on the other hand I suppose it could get better when it all comes together. Also surprised some of the other notes are so much better - maybe I just have a poor bottle.

First of a case of 12. This is not particularly complex in terms of flavour - bright red fruits with little background spiciness - but it's amazingly pure and vibrant. Like a sparkling jewel. Should improve as the remainder of the tannin integrates.

Initially showing ripe strawberry and raspberry flavours that combine with a lot of dry extract and mouth coating chalky tannins on a medium length finish. After being open for a while some stemmy and slightly raisiny notes appeared. The wine definitely has the stuffing to last a while. Will wait a year or two to try again.

First bottle from a six pack. Lovely aromatics - fresh red fruits and herbs. Soft, sensual silky texture, only mid-light weight but has the acidity and tannin to hold it all together. It has that savoury quality that makes you keep coming back to it. This is so drinkable now but should continue to evolve.

Drank alongside the Cailleret from the same vintage. The majority preferred the Cailleret, but I suspect this has a more interesting future ahead it. The wine has a lovely texture with fine tannins. Somewhat darker fruit profile when compared to the Cailleret. Long savoury finish without any dryness. Very happy I've got some of these.

Drank this alongside the Clos de Chenes from the same vintage. Definitely open for business. Lot's of crunchy raspberry fruit, fresh youthful and mineral flavour profile without any lingering dryness. Not hugely complex and maybe best drunk younger.

Dark inky almost purple, not much sign of age. Although aromatically it is showing the typical dark brambly fruit, there is also a cool gravelly almost understated element to the nose. High acidity combines with fine and dusty (old vines?) tannins with a long leathery and savoury finish. Seems to be in a nice place now with good primary fruit, the oak integrated and some tertiary flavours starting to emerge. Just a little dry on the end. This is really rather distinctive. I've got a few more bottles and intrigued to see how the wine ages from here.

Drank this over two days alongside the ygay from the same vintage which was less enjoyable but still very good. Opened an hour prior but did not decant. The wine is in a beautiful place right now. Enticing fruit and violet aromas. The tannin and oak are perfectly integrated to make for a lovely smooth texture and mouthfeel. I don't have enough experience with Rioja to know how long this will last. What I will say is that the wine was much more enjoyable and certainly more complex than the last bottle I had which was several years ago.

Tasted at the domaine. Intensely perfurmed exotic spicy nose. Rich and concentrated showing lovely fresh red cherry and cranberry. This was made in an older style with 100% new oak, which although still present does not seem overworked. Grippy tannins. This needs time for everything to integrate but should be at least very good and potentially outstanding.
