Tainted - not corked. A real lack of precision and cloying, jammy finish. Very disappointing really considering its pedigree.

A lovely wine. Surprised it was this good given it is now 20 years old. Plenty of acid balances the sweetness. Seems now rush to drink it which is good as there are another 11 to go (I lost track of these in storage).
The wine looks yellow brown colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. The body is medium. The wine has high acidity.

Very nice somewhat fuller and richer than expected. Ripe. I kept thinking about rockmelon and condrieu - or at least the Vernay we have been drinking. This has the same sort of mouthfeel. I came back to this in the evening thanks to the wonders of Coravin. The evening session was pretty much the same save that the bottle was a little cooler and so perhaps not as full in the mouth. Amazing value really. I cannot have paid more than 20 quid for it on release.

I see that it is passed its recommended drinking window. I am not much good at this. PerhPs it would have been better a few years ago but I have no complaints now.

At home with a book. Very nice ripe fruit. Ready but no rush. Soft tannins and very full mouth feel perhaps a bit soft on the finish. Was very surprised to see recommended drink dates are 2008. I don't think it will get any better but I would be very surprised were it to fall off a cliff in the next year or two.

The wine looks light amber coloured. The legs are Slow. Very nutty nose. Lower end of palate quite sweet and honeyed but with a very dry finish. Medium/Full body with a smooth dry finish. Perhaps a little warm for me.

Had another go at it following last night to deal with the remainder. Held up very well. Perhaps better than last night. Very rich, plenty of bortrytis flavours and again that burnt toffee that seems characteristic of this wine. Again I felt a little overwhelmed by the sugar and perhaps some more acidity might have made it more to my taste.

A wonderful warm meaty nose. Rich with a trace of spice. Beautiful and soft. Full on the palate. No hard edges. Gentle. A lovely bottle. Classic.

Drank magnificently out of the Imperial over two evenings. Much better the second evening but no slouch on the first. Real old school claret. Proper Job!

Like its brother - not quite what it used to be. Many happy memories of this wine but it really is just a shadow of what it once was.

Dinner at Hertford St. A still wonderful wine. Surprisingly good in fact. Still plenty of life left in it.

Really very tired now - vastly different from the many many bottles I have enjoyed of this once superb wine. Very thin a shadow of its past self.

Slightly burnt. A toffee sort of finish. Not lacking acidity but lacking perhaps enough to finish. Creme brûlée.

Very much nicer than the 02 Slapjack Reserve of last night. Red Fruit still very much at the front. Certainly ready to drink now - probably at the back end of its real drinking life. A very nice Kiwi Pinot with no delusions of grandeur.

Very dark with some bricking at the edges. Initially very sweet on the nose. This hardened after a time. Somewhat bitter on the palate. Still black fruit present, cherries if you like. This wine will not get any better and is on the way down. How long it has left from here is beyond me to speculate upon. Slightly disappointing - I have left it too long I suspect. Time to drink up the rest. Let's see what the other bottles have in store.
