Wanted to give this a go given the positive reviews but my experience did not tally with them. This wasn't exactly closed but it just didn't come together for me. Too sweet and jammy on both the nose and the palate, someone commented that it was Bojo-like which I couldn't disagree with. Nobody guessed Bordeaux on this since it didn't have the classic markers or structure of a Bordeaux. The only saving grace was the purity of fruit. This definitely should be left alone for a while.

3/4/23, 3:08 AM - I tasted it at about the same time as you. Jammy fruit? Sweet fruit, yes, but it's THE vintage. Fantastic wine. If you left this wine in the glass for over 1 hour, you would see the difference because it changed to classic Pessac Leognan. 99p from me.

You don't have Bordeaux as your favorite wine region, so how can you know about it? I've almost 40 years of experience in tasting Bordeaux wines.

really good but nothing to compare with the great 2016

    3/4/23, 3:03 AM - Have you tried 2019? It's a stunner as 2018.

2020 had the initial blend made by Nicolas Thienpont changed by current owner, Josephine Duffau Lagarrosse.

Not sure what is the hype in this wine. I drank this side by side with a wine that is 6 times less expensive and as good aromatically speaking. Clos du Roy Fronsac 2018. I will pass on Les Carmes HB and don't think of ever purchasing wines from this Chateau again. At $160 CAN, I consider this a rip off. If some says this will improve, I don't agree.

2019 Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Côte du Py Javernières Gamay
Such a fantastic Gamay. Primary and densely packed, but there's a lot of joy today. Aromas of raspberry, blackberry, cherry, blood orange, walnuts and damp dark soil, a little pepper, violets and raw cacao Full and structured on the palate, layers of fruit, deep acid cut, tannins grip but they are overshadowed by the intense fruit. Tangy and raw on the finish, but balanced and overall quite elegant for Gamay with this kind of structure.

Very impressive
No decanter ! We open the botle and rigth in the glass
Still some red berries but predominant
animal aroma .Persistent in the mouth and it opende in the glass after 15 minutes
Very strong for a 1982 St Emillion
Highly reccomended
  • Troplong05 commented:

    4/18/21, 4:02 AM - It's Pomerol wine not a Saint Emilion one!!

Académie des Cinquante Saint-Emilion Tasting (Restaurant Bolenius *, Amsterdam, NL): Tasted blind (wine 16): a lot like wine 15 (Grand Mayne 1998) but not the finesse, and also a bit drying, 91. Tasted non-blind: rich and exciting, meaty, quite youthful, impressive but lacks true star quality today, 92.

... Perfect wine to forget the Riesling Jihadists and their moronic reaction on vintage criticism.

This wine will surely develop nicely over the next 40+ years. Dark, opaque color. Intense nose of plums, mulberries, black cherry, jasmine and a whiff of licorice. 150 seconds finish. Spectacular on the palate, almost identical to bouquet but with a touch of cedar. Well structured, apparently high alcohol which you do not taste, far from being hot. Absolutely phantastic. got to buy much more
