Singing from the get go with popcorn butter, salty caramel, light rose water. On the palate it was at an inflection point where the youthful exuberance is paired perfectly with mature notes.

Deep ruby color with a hue around the rim. Nose gains strength and complexity with time, approx an hour to unleash black fruits, meat, Sweet figs and white pepper. The purity of the fruit and definition on the palate is quite endearing with finish that is elegant and long. This is a great great CdP.

peachy gold in color with minimal bubbles as it was served in a chard glass. A reductive nose of honey and tangerines that has vibrant acidity on the palate. A beautiful example of aged champagne delivering on secondary flavors while still holding on to the acidity from its youth.

This wine grabbed you from the get go and did not let up. I have enjoyed some older montrose such as 66, 70, 75, but this was just on another level.......and then some. The color was extremely rich for a 57 year old wine. We all thought it resembled a wine from the early 80's. Nose was typical Bordeaux with elegance (something I don't ever associate with montrose) and symmetry to behold. Every aroma, flavor, nunance was in perfect balance providing pleasure individually and in aggregate. Hot bricks, leather, cherry, strawberry, dried leaves, cedar are some of depiction I can recall. Over the 3.5 hour course of our dinner, this wine delivered the fireworks. To our amazement, practically no sediment from this bottle.

This was a wine that defied all of my expectations, it was delivered from Germany to California then transported to Montreal in checked baggage within a matter of 7 days. We opened this bottle less than 2 hours after being secured from baggage claim. It started off slowly but like a fine thoroughbred kept on getting stronger with each passing moment. Much lighter in color than the montrose, as expected, but still I thought it was dark for its age. Very feminine and delicate nose of dried roses, raspberries, and other tart red fruits. Over time the nose became richer with leather, tea, and spices. Even the fruit on the palate was richer. The finish which upon opening was a little clipped became full and long. This bottle went through a metamorphosis over the course of the dinner with the last few sips being otherworldly. Longboarder is probably correct that this bottle probably would have shown best with a 8-12 hour decant, for a 57 year old wine.....go figure.

his a baby, decanted for 6 hours, at the moment it is sappy with purple fruit and oak. Yet it is not hot or out of balance. Anyone who is lucky to have a or some bottles, don't even think about it for another 5-7 years. It has the power and structure to challenge the 01 down the road. Too young to rate.

Decanted for apporx. 1 hour. Nose is opulent and generous black fruits with secondary aromas missing at the moment. On the palate is where one get sense of how this wine should develop in something special. It is a hedonistic dream right now. Rich and exotic with a plush feel on the palate. I also picked up strong espresso flavors. The beauty of this wine is how it carries such power with a nonchalant attitude. The Mrs., who most folks have reminded me multiples times that she has a better palate than I, absolutely loved this wine. Thought it is the best red she has ever had. This wine also has the structure to age effortlessly for 10+ years. 95pts, for now....

Decanted for approx. 4 hours. Nose and palate on this wine got better with each passing hour. The nose is intoxicating with so many nuances some which I thought were pepper, capsicum, tobacco, and sweet black fruits. Palate is rich and smooth with excellent weight on the midpalate and finish. My pick for the WOTN primarily due to it being mature at this point in time when compared to the 01 and 06 tonight. 98pts

Double decanted for 2 hours. Ruby red in color offering up something different on the nose throughout the night from dried flowers (violets), truffles, game, red fruit, mint and crushed stones just to name a few. On palate this wine is balanced in every sense of the word but penetrates with furiousity of a much younger wine. Game and fruit take center stage early on with other components showing themselves throughout to a beautiful lingering finish.

This wine showed no signs of tiring as it was evolving further at the 5 hour mark. Normally I give scores, for personnel reference only, but this wine needs no such accolades, it is simply a complete wine!

Plumish color with ruby red on the edges. Very consistent with the previous bottles, meaning this wine has hit its primo drinking plateau. Nose of cold stones, sweet and tart red fruits, chocolate, and a slight vegetation which I enjoyed. Palate is lively and fresh with a plummy finish. A joy to drink.

Popped and poured. Purple color providing no indication that this is a 24 year old wine. Nose just explodes upon opening of cassis, blue fruits, and cigar box. Palate is all class, balanced, and pure with a long finish. The tannins have not fully resolved but are not intrusive, leading me to believe that this wine will improve over the next 2 years.

I stood this bottle up for 2 weeks and decanted in the bottle for appox. 2 hours. Ruby color throughout. Some barnyard funk upon opening which blew off by the 1 hour mark. The nose has dried flowers, cherries, and meat. Palate is very well balanced with a long fleshy finish. It is so fleshy that I could taste the wine for over 90 sec after the last sip. excellent.

I stood this bottle up for three weeks. Decanted for sediment and poured. Nose has wonderful precision of cherries, meat, pepper, and wood. Palate is very fresh with some tannins. This was the best showing for this wine. Now I agree with Aries that this wine will develop with few more years of age.

This is a wine that I could just sit in a corner for hours to take in all the aromas. Very complex on the nose with different types of citrus, tropical and exotic fruits, and driven with minerality like no other other white wine I have experienced before. Palate is intensely vibrant with all the flavors and a finish that persists for a long time. Hope Didier's son can continue making wines such as this one. 96+

First bottle from the two cases in the cellar. This is a wine with gave slight to med funky notes for the first hour. By the third hour in the decanter it was singing with nose of red fruits, cedar, and currants. The palate is consistent with a medium finish. A very good wine which could improve in couple of year if the strong cedar notes give way to other secondary aromas/flavors and slightly more weight is added to the palate.

Decanted for 2 hours (4 hours recommended based on this bottle). Nice purple color with soaring nose of dark fruit liquor and vanilla. On palate it has delicious fruit supplemented with hints of coconut milk. The finish was awkward for the first four hours as it was dominated by spicy wood. However, after four hours in the decanter the finish had begun to round out with sweet fruit. The rating is based on the last glass I drank after four hours of decant.

Good wine with soaring aromas of honey, clove spice, and sweet citrus. Smooth and round on the palate with good weight. I prefer some acidity in my whites which this was lacking, however, I can see how this could be a highly rated wine for those who prefer this style.

Dark Dark Dark inky purple with nose of meats, currant, and graphite. Palate just expoldes with blue fruit like eat a blueberry pie and ends with a little bit of spice. This wine is massive but balanced and not hot at all. Probably would rate it higher had been paired with some better food, like ribeye's.

Disgorged October 2009. Bought from a store with temp of 70 degrees which might be a reason why this bottle was more evolved than I would have anticipated. Color was pure liquid gold. I poured it in both a champagne flute (for the wifey) and in a chard glass (for myself). The bubbles in both glasses were aggressive. We drank this wine over a period of 3 hours. Early on the citric fruit was dominant but in balance with yellow/green fruits. As time passed this champagne become more vinous with butterscotch, yellow/green fruits which were in balance with the minerality of this wine. It went extremely well with the chicken and basmati rice we had for dinner. Actually, my wife who probably has a better palate than I thought this wine went better with food than any champagne she had tried to date. Me on the hand am sold on this producer!!

Decanted for over 2 hours and drank over another 2 hours. Purple plum with a slight ruby hint in color. The nose over the first three hours was intoxicating with cherryliquor, cedar, thyme, and mint. The palate was balanced with dark fruit liqour, spicy wood, milk choc, and herbs. I enjoyed this bottle over the first hour more, thought I would rate it in the mid 90's, but over the last hour the liqour dominated too much and the wine lost weight on the palate. But still a good wine!

My first Didier as such I am suprised by the intensity of the fruit but without the overoaked vanilla flavors.....which is a very good thing in my book.
