1/20/23, 8:05 AM - I have heard Pascal Agrapart quoted that Mineral is more of a refreshing Spring and Summer wine, with the weight of Avizoise for Fall and Winter,
12/8/21, 7:28 AM - I am holding my 2017s till 2025.
11/1/21, 4:36 AM - Seems to be shut down like many Oregon 2015s made with stems. Will be interesting when the closed phase ends.
10/3/21, 7:33 AM - Thank you for the note. I had a 2010 mineral a week ago that was lovely and young. I am hopeful the top Agraparts will offer a long life of enjoyment. There was nice availability of the 12-14’s during the time of the plague as restaurants didn’t take their allocations.
8/29/21, 5:50 PM - Thank you for the check in. The 95’s are lovely.
8/18/21, 8:17 AM - Thank you for the update. How long-lived do you think 2008 will be? I was thinking of starting to drink mine at age 15 instead of 20.
8/9/21, 12:02 PM - That is good to hear.
6/19/21, 8:12 AM - John Gilman has held the view that champagne goes through dumb or closed stages. With good growers, such as Agrapart, the aging curve is something that there is not an established view. I suspect it will be somewhere between white burgundy cru’s and the higher doses from big houses.
6/14/21, 8:27 AM - My 2013's are still gaining weight and complexity.
6/13/21, 4:45 PM - Pomerol is on the right
5/25/21, 7:39 AM - I hear "wait 20 years" advice from some with more experience than I on Faurie
5/10/21, 8:03 AM - Would love to hear you thoughts on how L'Eglise Clinet doing the malo in tank will extend the aging curve? I see mid '90s LEC tasting notes that the wine benefits from decanter time. My suspicion is that good LEC vintages need 20 years and great ones 25+
2/16/21, 11:51 AM - The 2015 Oregon Pinot Noirs seem to be going through a shutdown phase
2/16/21, 2:03 PM - Marcus Goodfellow agrees on the shutdown. https://goodfellowfamilycellars.com/vintages/tag/2015
1/28/21, 1:37 PM - Do you think it is just shut down/going through a closed time? I have seen it with some other 2015 Oregon Pinots.
12/30/20, 4:00 PM - Good to hear. I am trying to hold out a bit longer on Kelley’s Momtazi wines.
11/7/20, 6:53 AM - Thank you for the note. I have had a few 2015 Oregon Pinot Noirs that are in a closed or shut down stage. Personally, and based since I prefer aged wines, I would not give up. With the big table style of some whole clusters, unfiltered and unfined, and Cattrall own rooted vines, should produce wines that add complexity with age if well cellared.
10/29/20, 3:14 AM - Good to hear it was better on day 2. I have had the same thing happen with some 2015 star of Bethlehem that felt closed or shut down when first opened.
8/6/20, 2:20 PM - I plan on following Burghounds advice and not touching it until after 2025.
7/25/20, 4:58 AM - How do you suspect the WS Seven Springs (and Freedom Hill) will age?
4/28/20, 6:40 PM - Nice review. Especially for someone drinks a lot of burgundy and is not a score inflator. Where do you think it is in its drinking cycle? I have a well stored case and it is my wedding year.
2/2/20, 7:03 AM - Yes. I have a few cases so will back off for a year or two. Was going in earlier as John Gillman said start drinking 2019 VS 2022 for the 15 red barn blocks.
2/2/20, 10:14 AM - For more obscure up and coming try Hundred Suns (their upcoming breaker vineyard should not be missed), Shiba Wichern, (super value for the craft if you order DTC), Trathen Hall. and of course Goodfellow, Crowley, Evesham Wood and Arterberry Maresh are all low key thoughtful makers that are loved on Berserkers. Have recently heard good things about Hazelfern. Avalon and Vinopolis are great wine shops to sign up for their newsletters and just hear what they have to say. I support smaller makers, as long as they are more thoughtful makers and not so high alcohol.
