This was a good wine - much better on day 2.

Pop and poured this on day 1 - felt like I was going to be disappointed. It felt hot on the nose, too much oak and alcohol on the nose. It was predominating. The mouthfeel was full bodied but a bit out of balance.

Put the cork back in and let it sit for 24 hours at room temperature. Lot better on the second day. The nose softened, lots of blackberries, dark chocolate, and a hint of pencil shavings. It is full bodied, much more balanced on the second day. Lots of fruit, tannins are in a good place. The finish was good, long, and smooth. The alcohol was present but very well integrated.Overall was really much more pleasant the second day. Really good wine.

Good bottle - typical excellent Lail sav blanc. We had it a little too cold at first, the nose was muted and fruit was being muted. But once it came up to room temperature a bit more you clearly saw this was a special wine. Lots of bright fruit - grapefruit, kiwi, and some Granny Smith apples. The mouth feel is luxurious, smooth, and clearly well integrated. Drinking really well now.

This was a fantastic wine. We drank this with home made hamburgers on the grill and it was fantastic. The wine pours a very dark almost purple color. No real signs of age on the rim. The nose is very pleasant with lots of dark fruit, still felt very primary on the nose. It did have a bit of alcohol bite on the nose that took away a bit from the experience. The palate was medium to full bodied, lots of dark fruit on the palate, long good finish. The only downside on was the bite on the palate from the alcohol. Overall a really enjoyable wine - probably in its prime drinking window.

This was likely an off bottle. Tasted a little off, not the usual vibrant sav blanc you expect from Lail.

This was a very good wine. We decanted this for about 25 minutes before serving and it opened up beautifully. On the nose it had lots of dark fruit, dark chocolate, and baking spices. There was a bit of a bite on the nose from the alcohol but the palate was very balanced. Fully bodied, easy drinking, and just delicious. I was surprised about how little the alcohol was present on the palate. It was perfectly integrated. There was layers and layers of dark fruit on the palate was perfect. We had this with a steak and it was just perfect. Recommend drinking up soon as I believe this is in its peak drinking window.

Brought this a restaurant in NYC and it was absolutely perfect today. This was probably the best of my 3 bottles that I had of this. It was ready to go right out of the bottle. As soon as you opened the cork, you can smell dark berries, chocolate, and a hint of roasted coffee.

The palate is full bodied, rich, opulent. As soon as you take a sip you can tell this is a very special wine. It has layers and layers of fruit. I do feel that this is starting to be on the downside. It probably peaked about 1-2 years ago. That being said, it still is super enjoyable. But I would advise that if you have this drink it up to fully enjoy this and how good it really is.

We had this with a steak and it was the perfect pairing.

We had the 2013 Groth with home made hamburgers and it was perfect. Pop and pour ready to go right out of the bottle. The nose has lots of dark fruit, leather, and a hint of mint. The palate is medium bodied, rich, not over the top and good fruit. The tannins are nicely integrated, in a good spot right now about 10 years after the vintage first appeared. The finish was a bit short. Overall enjoyed this very much.

Wow this is some fantastic wine right here. At 21 years - this is just in a fantastic stage. As soon as I opened the bottle and poured a glass the whole room was filled with notes of dark fruit, spices, coffee, fresh picked blackberries, and a hint of leather. It pours very dark with some brown hue on the rim of the glass. But wow - that nose is just so delightful. Everyone commented on how great this wine smelled and how it filled the room.

After about 15 minutes in the glass - the mouthfeel is incredible. Concentrated but not over the top extracted, incredibly well balanced, and lots of dark fruit with a great long finish that just leaves you wanting to take another sip. This is very easy drinking. The tannins are perfectly integrated at this point and the flavor just keeps going and going. I feel like this wine is in its perfect stage now. It is beautiful. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Drank this time over 2 nights. The first night it was lots of dark fruit, lots of blackberry, dark chocolate, and a hint of lavender, there was also a fairly big bite on the nose from the alcohol. The palate was actually rather surprising. It is fulled bodied, tannins nicely integrated, good flavor profile and a decent dose of fruit. Again, as I found typical of Orin Swift wines, a decent dose of alcohol to burn at the tail end.

The second night was a bit more of the same. I enjoyed this wine and believe it is just starting to enter its drinking window however I don't believe it will ever loose that alcoholic feel to it, that is the Orin Swift style. Having tasted his entire profile - this is by far the best of the lineup - it is the most refined and well put together wine. Hope you enjoy it like I did, though a bit of yin and yang wine.

This is a fantastic Rutherford example of Napa cab. We drank this over two days. The first night it was filled with lots of dark fruit, dark chocolate, a hint of leather. The palate was full bodied, rich, opulent, and the tannins very nicely integrated. Kept the cork in drank a little more the second night and it was more of the same.

I liked this wine but it was lacking that classic Rutherford rusty taste.

Drank over 2 days. The first day it was a little closed down for the first twenty minutes then it started to open up. Lots of dark fruit, dark chocolate, and a hint of eucalyptus. Big on the palate, good fruit, but also a bite of alcohol. Decent finish but the alcohol dominates a bit too much, if it was toned down a bit this would be much more pleasant. Overall well made wine but packs a punch.

Drank this over two days. It pours a very dark purple color. The nose is very elegant with lots of dark fruit, black berries, and good dose of crushed black pepper likely from the cab franc. This is a big wine with lots of fruit on the palate, easy drinking, and the tannins are really well integrated. Good smooth finish. The second day was a bit of the same as the first. Overall really enjoyed this. Probably drinking at its peak now.

Drank this over two days and it is much better then what I remember 3 years ago. This needs some air, we drank this over 2 hours and it got better with time and more air. The nose was filled lots of dark fruit, raspberries, toasted cocoa, a hint of lavender. Tannins are well integrated now. Medium finish. Overall it was enjoyable, a bit more expressive on day 2. Was expected a bit more of this considering the pedigree coming from Stagecoach vineyard. Probably drinking at its peak now.

This really is a fantastic sav blanc coming out of Napa - probably the best sav blanc from America.

We brought this to a BYOB Vietnamese restaurant. It was fantastic when served slightly chilled. The nose was very elegant - not your typical California sav blanc. Lots of fresh harvested vanilla, grapefruit, and a hint of vanilla - a testament to the new French oak this wine is aged in. The finish is long. This wine feels like it is just entering its drinking window. It is fantastic and will go for many more years.

Lail Georgia has to be some of the best sad blanc coming out of Napa. Highly recommend letting this come to room temperature because otherwise it will be subdued. The nose is very elegant - lots of dried apricot, lychee, and a hint of vanilla from the oak. The palate is very smooth, good acidity but not over powering as yo sometimes see in sad blanc. Very smooth and long finish. Fantastic wine, can easily age for many more years. The aim was for a white Bordeaux and it absolutely lives up to that.

This was an outstanding Pomerol. We decanted this for about 1 hour prior to serving and the nose was full of dark fruit, blueberries, violet, iron rust, and lots of earthy tones. It pours an incredibly dark red color. It is a big wine, full bodied, lots of dark fruit on the palate with big tannins but easy to drink. Finish lasts 20 seconds. This is a great wine - would go great with steak. Cheers!

I have always been a big fan of Dancing Hares - and this is no exception. I had to use a Durand to get the cork out and would recommend it if you have this wine, the cork was a bit brittle.

This wine pours a very dark red. The nose is very elegant at first, lots of dark fruit - blackberry, chocolate, tobacco, and a hint of blackcurrant. A rather strong bite of alcohol on the tail end. It improved over the 1.5 hours that we drank this wine. The palate is full bodied, rich, and has a really nice mouthfeel. It also just tastes really good. This is a really nice Bordeaux blend from Napa. Again - a bit of alcohol on the tail end of the palate that takes a bit of the good experience away. Would be a point or two higher if not for the alcohol bite. Overall really well made wine - would recommend drinking if you have it, in its prime right now.

This is definitely a big wine and will impress everyone that tries it. I used a Durand to remove the cork - and even with that the cork broke while I was extracting it from the bottle.

We did not decant this and it was ready to go right out of the bottle. What an amazing nose! This is filled with dark fruit, blueberry, blackberry, tar, dark roasted coffee, and a hint of leather. Every time you swirl this wine you get one of the most gorgeous noses I have ever smelled on a wine. First taste - wow! Big, lush, full of flavor. The tannins are almost non existent at this time but it keep rewarding you with layers and layers of fruit and the finish just keeps going. It is perfectly balanced - now don't get me wrong, it is a huge powerful wine but is not over the top. For such a powerful wine it is remarkably restrained. We drank this over 2 hours and it kept evolving over that time with more layers of fruit.

Outstanding wine, have 2 more bottles left and they will last for many more years.

We brought this to a BYOB pizza place (Lucali in Brooklyn) and it was fantastic. We kept this in my trunk for a couple of hours while it was in the high 30s outside. When we got in to the restaurant we popped the cork and it was served a bit chilly but it did not take away from this fantastic wine. When it warmed up a bit it was filled with lots of dark fruit, blackberry, and hints of leather. This is definitely full bodied - the tannins are still present but at 12 years of age I feel it is in a perfect spot. It has good dark fruit on the palate and a long finish. It is very balanced on the palate, not overpowering but not underwhelming, it was not overshadowed by the pizza and calzone we had. This was a perfect pairing. Overall this is a fantastic wine - would absolutely recommend it for you and if you have it you can drink it now with a brief decant or it will last many more years. Cheers!

This wine pours a dark red color. The nose at first pour is very heavy on the oak - but give it at least 30 minutes for the oak to blow off and you will be rewarded with lots of red fruit, some eucalyptus, tobacco, and heavy baking spices. The palate is medium bodied, rich, fruit forward, and tannins are well integrated. The finish is medium to long in length.

To me this feels like it is in an odd phase - it either needs more time in the cellar or decanting or it started it decline? (I hope not) It is a very enjoyable wine - well made, muscular, and with plenty of structurer, but I was expecting a bit more given how good the 2011 Mascot was.

I have always heard good things about Merry Edwards sav blanc and it did not disappoint. The key is not to serve it too cold - it is very aromatic and the cold will really hide those notes. After about 20 minutes of being open - you had lots of stone fruit on the nose, lemon, lime, zest, and a hints of papaya and grapefruit. The palate is smooth and rich, evident that a great deal of care was put into this wine. Good finish that leaves you refreshed and wanting to take another sip. The only downside of this wine was that it is a tad too sweet. Sav blancs usually do not have level of sweetness but this one does. Not necessarily in a bad way - just not something I am used to.

This wine reminds me a bit of Lail Georgia Sav Blanc which is about 4-5x the price of this. You can either drink now or hold and it will be great.

At 9 years old this wine is in a fantastic place. The nose is very elegant with lots of dark chocolate, lavender, and a hint of spice. The palate is medium to full bodied, rich and opulent. Fruit forward but not over the top. The tannins are perfectly integrated. Medium finish. This is likely drinking at its peak right now, no need to wait any longer. We drank this with homemade pizza, and it was fantastic.

Drank this with home made cast iron steak. Decanted for this for 30 minutes prior to serving. The nose is a bit hot - but once you can get past it, it opens up with lots of dark fruits. The palate is medium to full bodied - a bit over extracted if you ask me. Decent finish.

Overall enjoyable wine for what it is.

Wow what a fantastic wine. This was ready to go right out of the bottle. It pours very dark - very concentrated. The nose is very elegant and lets you know you are about to enjoy something very special. It is loaded with dark fruits, cherries, chocolate, and a hint of leather on the tail end. The palate is full bodied - definitely firing on all cylinders. It is rich, powerful, and concentrated. The finish is long and delivers. The tannins are still present but very well integrated at this point. Probably drinking at its peak now. Really special wine.

This was probably the best bottle of the 3 I've had. I did not decant it - instead rather just pop and poured. This was loaded with sediment so I used a filter to pour it. It poured incredibly dark and did not show any signs of age. The nose was mostly primary with lots of dark seductive fruits and a touch of leather. The palate is full bodied - the tannins are nicely integrated and alcohol is barely noticeable. The finish is long and silky smooth. Overall this was very enjoyable. Would buy again at the right price.

This is my second bottle of a 6 pack. Decanted this for 30 minutes prior to serving with home made pizza. The nose is mostly tertiary - lots of stewed plum, apricot, licorice, and a touch of oak on the nose. The palate is full bodied, smooth, with tannins nicely integrated. The fruit became a little more forward as we drank it over the next 2 hours. The finish is medium length. Overall really nice enjoyable wine.

Agree with others have said about this wine. It is still quite tannic and leaves your mouth puckering even after splash decanting this for 20 minutes. The nose is mostly dark fruits - but the palate is a bit different. Did not get all cabernet from this - drank more like a cab franc with a bit of spicy notes here and there. Overall enjoyable - but would give it a few more years to settle down.

This is a fantastic wine - my 3rd bottle of the 2011 and it is just as good as the first one I had about a year ago. Opened it about 30 minutes prior to serving. Did not decant. Poured into my glass gave it a couple of swirls and was greeted with a very big bouquet of dark fruit, lavender, and hints of dark chocolate. The palate again is full bodied, rich, opulent, not overly extracted - but just powerful and muscular. Tannins are very well integrated. Finish is long.

We paired this with home made hamburgers and it was such a treat. This is one of the better 2011s out there.

It does not get much better then this right here. This has to be some of the best juice coming out of Napa that there is. I decanted this for about 5 hours prior to serving and it was in a perfect place. The nose is so lovely and balanced - big and juicy with lots of dark fruits, blackberries, and hints of leather - but also an elegant softer side with violet and eucalyptus. The palate is massive, full bodied, firing on all cylinders. This just coats your mouth in layers of balanced fruits that are concentrated but not over the top. It approaches the extreme level - but never crosses it. The first few seconds this wine is in your mouth it is all power and than after 20 seconds it softens - the balance is just there. The tannins are silky, smooth, and perfectly balanced. This is such a treat to drink. The Cuvee Katrina Eileen is my favorite Napa wine out there. Cheers!

Drank this with home made fish tacos. Nice overall wine, the nose was pleasant with some stone fruits, nice acidity on the mouth, but a bit of a bigger bite on alcohol. Also not so sure what the Semillon adds to this, especially in such high quantity (50% I believe). Would have preferred this all sav blanc.

Wow what a treat this wine has been. We drank this bottle over 2 days and it was so much better on the second day. Day 2 on the nose it had lots of dark concentrated fruits - blackberry, blueberry pie, leather, figs, and a touch of leather. The palate is huge, full bodied, and really expressive and muscular but also really well balanced. The tannins are still present and add a nice backbone to this wine. The finish lasts at least 20-30 seconds. This wine is probably in its peak drinking window right now and no race to drink it - it will have years ahead. Wow - fantastic job.

This is a prototypical Rutherford Napa cab. It has all the stuff you want from the AVA. The nose was filled with dark cherries, raspberry, violet, and a hint of leather. The palate is medium bodied, rich, not too extracted, and on the tail end you really get a taste of that Rutherford "dust" everyone talks about. The finish is nice is smooth and the alcohol while present is not really noticeable. Overall this is a great Napa cabernet and really highlights Rutherford and the good wines that come out of the area. At its peak drinking window now.

Wow - what a fantastic wine. This has everything you want from a Napa cab. Second time having this wine and it is just as good as my experience. This pours a very dark red. No signs of age on the rim of the wine. The nose is all dark fruit - black currant, blackberry, blueberry pie and a hint of eucalyptus. The palate is full bodied-tannins are nicely integrated, and just gives you waves and waves of dark fruit on the palate. This is delicious. The finish is long -about 20 seconds. We drank this over 1.5 hours and it kept getting and better over that time. This is probably at its peak drinking window now and will be there for at least the next year or two before it starts to decline so if you have some of this in your cellar I suggest you open one up and really experience how good this is.

Nice white Bordeaux blend here - this 50/50 sav blanc and semillion blend has a nose of pear, peach, honey, a bit of vanilla, and hint of pencil eraser. This is a nice easy drinker. It has pretty good depth, good taste, and is pretty tasty overall. We paired this with home made pan seared scallops and it worked really well with that pairing. The last bottle of 6 I had and drank over the years. What else can I say about this wine that hasnt already been said? This is hands down the best California (or even the world) sav blanc I have ever had. Even at 10 years old now - this still drinks so elegant, young, vibrant, and just plain delicious. Everything you can want in a sav blanc this offers. I drank this last bottle over 2 days - it was better on the second day, much more open and fragrant. Nose of freshly squeezed meyer lemons, orange peel, grapefruit. The palate is rich, opulent, and full bodied for a sav blanc. A finish that lasts long and leaves you wanting to take another sip. Everything you can want from a sav blanc right here!

Had this 17 year old grand cru chardonnay last night and it was spectacular. I gave this about 30 minutes of air prior to serving and it really allowed it to open up. It poured a very golden yellow color. The nose was filled with buttered croissants, honey, pears, and touch of lemon zest. This is full bodied, really complex in the mouth and really enjoyable. The finish is at least 20 seconds. Even for being 17 years old this wine drinks incredibly young. You would not think that this has so many years on it. It is elegant, full bodied, and a real pleasure to drink. Despite my glowing review of this (which it deserves) - it probably was at its peak a couple of years ago.

Drank this over 2 days - much much better on day 2. This is such a gem! The first night we had this I paired it with home made NY strip steak. I decanted this for 1 hour prior to serving and felt it was in a perfect place. Lots of of dark fruit, well integrated tannins, concentrated, and with decent complexity. Only drank about 1/2 the bottle - put the cork back in and let it sit on the kitchen counter for an additional 24 hours.

Day 2 - WOW! The nose is elegant - lots of licorice, tanned leather, forest floor, black currant jam, a touch of fig. The palate is so delicious. This coats your mouth with a beautiful layer of fresh dark fruit, this lasts for about 20 seconds before fading and those big tannins leave your mouth puckering and it finishes with a dark pepper note that is really subtle but very pleasant. The finish lasts for about 40 seconds and now you can start to taste jammed fruits.

I was expecting this to fade after being open for 24 hours - but I could not be more wrong. If you are reading this - you need to decant this for A LONG TIME to really to get the potential of this wine. I know 2011 gets such a bad rep in Napa but I make it a point to seek out these vintages at auction because I got these at such a great price and from such a great producer such as Mondavi - they made a fantastic wine!

I opened this wine and let it slow oxidize for about 45 minutes prior to serving. It was closed off initially - nose was subdued and closed. I was worried that this would be a dud. However, after a little more time in the glass it showed noted of blackberries, stewed fruit, blueberries, and a hint of eucalyptus. It is full bodied, tannins are nicely integrated. Finish was bit short for such a big full wine. Overall enjoyable, but nothing too special to write home about.

This wine just seems to be getting better and better over the past year. Decanted this for 1 hour and drank over the next 2. The nose after 3 hours of air was filled with blueberry pie, chocolate, sage, and a touch of vanilla. This pours a very dark red to almost black - big legs in the glass. The palate is very rich, full bodied, tannins are still quite strong and present, but have mellowed out a bit from the last time I tried this. They are not so much in your face - but they are very velvety and easy drinking. The finish is long - at least 20 seconds. This is a delicious wine, a bit one dimensional in that it overpowers your palate a bit with the big fruit, but it is not over the top. I really enjoyed this wine, Melka and his team did a fantastic job. It is big, powerful, smooth, and well made. Perfect for Thanksgiving leftovers.

This wine definitely needs more time in the cellar. We opened this for Thanksgiving and when I popped the cork at first it was very closed down. Just a faint note of vanilla and not much more. Poured a small glass for myself and it was more of the same - I was worried that maybe this was a bad bottle. Tasted closed down, minimal fruit, and not much more going on.

Poured into the decanter and let it sit for 1 hour - it was not just starting to open up. Hints of dark fruits on the nose, blueberry pie, sage, and a touch of vanilla. We drank this over 2 hours and it started to be more expressive over that time but still not what I was expecting from To Kalon fruit. I believe this needs more time in the cellar or a very long decant. Though the hour I gave it in the decanter and drinking it over the next 2 still felt too short.

This is not your typical Napa cabernet either - its not so much 'in your face'. It has a softer side to it, elegant, smooth, refined. Much more old world styled wine and could absolutely see the French influences on this. Looking forward to trying my other bottles in the years to come.

My last bottle of this beautiful and delicious wine. The cork was in perfect condition as was the other bottles I have enjoyed. This pours an incredibly dark red color, almost black. The nose is all tertiary - leather, raisins, mint, a hint of dried cherries. The palate still tastes vibrant - even for a 23 year old Napa cabernet. The fruit it still present - much more refined and linear, with great balance and depth. This is undeniably Napa - but it has aged so graciously and well. Such a treat to drink. Wish I had more of this wine - it has been a great treat to try these and drink them over the year. This is living proof of just how good Napa wines can be.

This was a fantastic value Bordeaux from a great vintage. We opened this and it was full of notes of dark cherries, dark chocolate, and hints of eucalyptus. The palate is medium to full bodied, good depth, and a nice mouth feel. It has decent complexity and a great taste. We had this with home made pizza and pasta and it was a perfect combination. I am not much of Bordeaux drinker - but this was very pleasant, elegant, and overall delicious. Would absolutely buy again.

Decanted this wine for 45 minutes prior to drinking and felt that this wine really needed it. The nose was elegant with lots of red fruits, cherries, raspberries, some notes of leather, and a hint of toasted coconut. The palate is medium bodied, nice mouthfeel, but felt a bit thin. There are some green pepper notes with this wine which I am attributing to the difficult 2011 vintage however it is very easy drinking and just overall tasty. Medium finish. Overall really enjoyed this wine.
