Red
Surprisingly great for the vintage. Velvety texture, youthful fruit, full of life. A classic.
White
Outstanding bourgogne chardonnay. In a perfect spot, but can be aged for a few more years.

White
Still going strong and consistent with my previous note. Not amazing but solid.
Red
Extremely rustic. Woody. Rough tannins. Kind of like drinking an overoaked Napa Cab.
Red
In a great place, perfectly mature textbook Gevrey Chambertin.

Last bottle. This one is unfortunately slightly corked.
Red
In a good place. Very pleasant and balanced wine. Excellent for its level. No rush to drink.
Red
Very nicely balanced, terrific wine and a great value.
Red
From a restaurant’s wine list. The most Californian burgundy I’ve had in a long time. Extracted, modern, it paired with dinner ok, but suddenly became mousy and bitter after 2 hours. Undrinkable on day 2.

Ouch!
Red
Slight bricking throughout. Aromatic nose - red/dark fruits, forest floor, mushrooms. Mature strawberries, plums, mushrooms. Slightly bitter and rustic.

In a good place, mature but no rush to drink. Didn't deteriorate overnight.
Red
Decent bottle of wine but could be much better considering the vineyard. On par with a good bottle of village Volnay. Can't complain considering the price, but you get what you pay for.
Red
Paired with pizza. Good wine, well developed, has a few more years of life in it before starts fading. I only wish it wasn’t 15.5% alc.
White
Under DIAM, 375ml. Light straw color. Muted nose and shy on the palate immediately after pouring. Opens up after 1 hour. Excellent.
Red
Cherries and spices on the nose. On the palate it is a complex bouquet of dark cherries, baking spices, black tea, strawberries... The depth is incredible. A very complete wine, which will further improve with additional cellaring. Superb now, bright future ahead.
Red
It's a nicely balanced bottle of burgundy with a good acidic spine. Fully mature but can easily go on for a few more years. It's not amazing or particularly memorable, but a well made everyday wine for food pairing.
Red
Ridiculously delicious right from PnP. Rich but in a good way, excellent depth and balance, elegant and silky. Black cherries and crushed ripe strawberries. The style reminds Sigaut. No rush to open; can further improve with time in bottle but can be enjoyed now.
Red
Day 1: absolutely gorgeous on the palate, while the nose was a bit reserved. Complex notes of dark fruits, blueberries and blackberries. Evolving. Amazing for a bourgogne rouge.
Day 2: unpleasant weedy nose. The palate is becoming similarly weedy and green.
Day 3: left a bit out of curiosity to see where it goes. Weedy nose, oxidative notes on the palate.

Lesson learned - should've finished it on Day 1.
Red
Cork soaked through, but no impact on the wine. Dark ruby, no sign of bricking. A bit shy on the nose initially, but opens up (dark berries) with time in the glass. Rich palate, good density. Dark fruited, Vosne spice, excellent acidic balance. Medium+ finish. Outperforms its level. No rush to drink, should easily maintain its current properties for at least another 5 years.

One of my favorite Chablis producers, but this particular bottle failed to impress.
Light straw color. Bruised green apple on the nose. The palate is dominated by green apple and acid. As it warms up, the green apple turns bruised apple. Fairly simple and not as satisfying as the other Picq wines I've had in the past.
Red
Opened this to pair with Boeuf Bourguignon. An outstanding BR, as always. Added weight and depth on day 2. The palate is darker on day 2 + mushrooms/forest floor development.
Red
From Magnum.

Super-young and primary 15 min after opening. Pronounced acid and very red-fruited on the palate. Should effortlessly age for years.
Red
Very primary, still developing. Tannins are prominent. Chokeberries, black currents, cherry pits on the palate. 13% alc. Medium finish. Lovely balance and texture.
It’s enjoyable now but will likely improve with more time in the bottle.

12% alc.
Dark color, similar to Beaujolais. Unfortunately, this is not where the similarity ends; there is clearly some Gamay in the blend (not a lot, but it's there).
Pleasant otherwise. Wish this was 100% pinot.
Red
A bit more bricking than I expected from a 2009. Lovely nose with some forest floor, dark fruits. On the palate it’s on the rustic side; a bit clunky for a Volnay. Mushrooms, cedary notes, white pepper complemented the fruits. It’s a good wine, but frankly I expected more. Fully mature, I don’t see any upside in further cellaring.

Tasted a previous bottle exactly 3 years ago. The wine continued to develop. Outstanding for its level; this is not a typical Bourgogne rouge. Good concentration, nice depth, medium finish with a little lingering bitterness. Still a bit tight and will further improve with more time in the bottle. Medium+ finish.

Surprisingly advanced. Slight oxidative notes, forest floor, muted overall. Not what I have expected from Fourrier. An off bottle, or poor vintage?
Red
This bottle was a stunner tonight! Majestic aroma, silky, elegant, and complete palate. One of these bottles that show how special Burgundy can be.
Red
Terrific wine. Right in its drinking window, well balanced, aromatic, properly developed burgundy. No need to wait, enjoy now or in the next few years. Nothing is out of place here. Delicate fruit is complemented by the earthy notes, mushrooms and the forest floor. Medium finish.
White
Stunning wine. Opens up in about 1hr. Rich, opulent style. Peach, pineapple, seashells. Will only improve from here.
White
Very good. Youthful, no signs of premature advancement. Not a typical Chablis, could be mistaken for a Chassagne. Very well balanced and a pleasure to drink.

I had to double-check if this was indeed a bottle from Burgundy and not a California Pinot. If tasted blind, it would easily be mistaken for Sonoma or Central Coast. Very New World, modern and extracted. Good concentration, not very complicated at this point, dark fruited, cola, some wood influence. Medium+ finish. Open for business, might slightly improve with another year in the bottle.
This would appeal to CA pinot fans.

Edit: Day 2 - Burgundian character is now peeking out. Still rich, rounded, good acidic balance. Plums, ripe strawberries, black tea. A bit of unresolved bitterness, but time should take care of it.

From .375
My second and last bottle. This one is fresher than the previous one. Rich, full bodied, with earthy and oaky notes. Dark fruits. Still quite a bit of the tannic structure remaining. No rush to drink but don't see much upside in holding.
White
Enjoyable. Paired with mixed nuts and hard cheeses. Core of a ripe cantaloupe, apples, and a whiff of sea shells. Not super complicated, but it doesn't pretend to be.

Good acidic balance, but overall pretty simple rose. Good on a hot summer day. A bit too dry and with some bitterness. Maybe this is to be expected of a Rose of Cabernet Franc. Medium-long finish.

HN Bourgogne is one of my top 3 favorite BR. 2020 does not disappoint. Excellent effort: great freshness, good balance. It's a solid step up, consistently being at the villages level. I think it will improve further with time.
Unfortunately, at $50 it is no longer a great QPR. The quality is definitely there, but the price makes it difficult to have this wine as a daily drinker.
Red
Raspberries and cola on the nose. A bit tight on PnP. Opens up with air. Nicely balanced, the palate is full, while being elegant. Red fruited with a hint of black tea and orange rind. Slight lingering bitterness on the finish. Good now, better in a few years (2025+).
Red
Old school burgundy. Pronounced acid and tannic structure upon PnP, softens in 1 hour. Sour cherries, pomegranate, earth, leather. At peak, no further improvement is expected, but no rush to drink.
Red
Day 1: thin, stemmy, monolithic, boring.
Day 2: fills out and is a nice, pleasant daily drinker. Mostly red fruits, cherries, raspberries, very slight cardamom. Nicely balanced.

Should sleep in the cellar for a few years or opened the night before.

Unimpressive for the price. Expected more considering the vintage. An ok food wine that should cost $20 or less. Seems to pack more heat than the 13% claim on the bottle. Feels generic. May improve with age.
Red
Unexpectedly ripe and extracted. Reminds me of a well-made Beaujolais. That said, it's quite pleasant and fun to drink.
Red
Lovely wine at its peak. Cherries and strawberries, mushrooms and forest floor. Very elegant. Took 30 minutes to really open up. Well balanced acidity. 13% alc. Medium-long finish.
Red
Lovely village wine. Juicy and ripe, but well balanced. Paired great with rack of lamb. Strawberries and sour cherries. Medium finish.

Muted nose on PnP, but the palate was promising. In 15 min it shut down hard and never really came back to life. Light and inexpressive.
Red
Ripe, but well balanced, it is ready to be enjoyed PnP. Secondary notes are starting to emerge. Excellent intensity. Superb villages!

Red
This wine continues to impress. Crunchy red berries, excellent balance, medium-long finish, good complexity. Outperforms its level.
Red
More one-dimensional than my previous bottles. Paired beautifully with coq au vin, but was less exciting on its own. Perhaps needs a bit more time in the bottle. The acidic balance was great, nice core of red fruits. A bit tight at the moment. The potential is still there.

Don't know if this will improve, but I found it to be very generic and pedestrian for what is normally a very good cuvee from Hall. This was definitely not a bottle issue - tasted from multiple bottles at the Hall event.

2009 Château La Croix Calendreau St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
After 1 hour of decant this was really good. Paired with a rack of lamb. Nicely developed, will likely stay at peak for another 5 years minimum. Velvety texture, red and black fruits, pencil shavings, slight earthiness. Medium+ finish. An overachiever for the price.
Red
Lovely. In its drinking window, showing beautifully. No rush to drink up.
