Silvester 2022/2022. This Bordeaux was a surprise. 2002 was a bad year in Bordeaux. Some of the 2002 Grand Crus are on a good level but not all. This Cru Bourgeois from a Magnum was excellent, ripe and delicate. It need 2-3h to open. Not to warm. 16°C was a good temperatur. Great pleasure to enjoy a old Bordeaux. Ruby colour. Ellegant nose. Round taste, light red fruits. Margaux style Haut-Medoc with a fine, dry structure. It was a pleasure without outstanding ambitions. Do not wait for drinking this red.

7/9/23, 2:56 PM - Hi! Excellent discription! I like your comparison to Margaux which is true. My 750 ml bottle started at a 88 Point level. The last 200 ml were after certain hours of developement with air on a 90-92 point level... best regards!

I picked up 6 of these for $10 a piece and was not sure if they were going to be drinkable as they were not properly stored. This is the 2nd I opened. The cork was soaked and crumbling. Once decanted the wine was in very good shape. Dark maroon in color, Very earthy on the nose and consistent with the earlier one I had a few weeks ago. The tannins were subtle and it drank very well. After the first glass we let it sit and revisited later in the evening and it improved greatly. Some fruit , figs and prune, but still very earthy. Definately past its prime but still a very good complex wine.

10/6/22, 1:59 PM - Hi, you bought them for $10! Fantastic. I expect that these bottles were sold in the 1980s for around $ 60-80... Imagine what a price for a Hot Dog was in the 1980s... I am thinking about buying a bottle for 75 Euro right now in Germany :)

I'm trying to purge my cellar of wines that are well past their drinking windows. This wine was supposedly 3 years past its recommended drinking window, but it was impressive. The telltale Chilean light tar/leather/dark fruit nose is still very prominent. The legs glide down the glass as if in slow motion. It still coats the mouth with a silky, velvety feel. Up front, it tastes of blackberries and very ripe blueberries, followed mid-palate by an herbaceous hint, and the soft tannins create a mouth-watering, lingering finish. No matter what the price point (inexpensive), this was a well structured wine that was a sheer joy to drink. Regrettably, this was my last bottle of this vintage.
The wine looks inky colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, tobacco, black pepper, plum and tar. It tastes like blackberry, blueberry, forest floor and stems. The body is medium/full. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

Screw cap. Light lemon colour. Stone fruit, peach and lemon flavours, with a touch of residual sugar and average length. Quite forward and broad, with limited depth and complexity. Drink now.

I used to be a fan of Kloster Eberbach‘s Baiken Riesling, but it seems that in the yields have been increased in recent years, resulting in thinner, flabby wines without much personality. This has become a supermarket bottling. A shame.

  • Vinophil2000 commented:

10/11/20, 2:33 PM - As you said, needs a lot of air! In 2020 at least 60 minutes in a decanter. Developes phanomenal with air! So much structure, so much tannin... amazing!

If I would mention the he price I paid per bottle in 2015, no one here would believe me... a shame... :-(
Hope you have the chance to find this or any other vintages from this winemaker anytime for a godo price! Greets!

Nose: The nose is fresh and electric with kaffir limes, white peaches, crushed rocks, green apples, saline, and white florals. There is excellent depth with a linear quality that is very attractive right now.

Taste: Medium bodied with sharp, high acidity. The feel is lithe with limes, white peaches, crushed rocks, green apples, and white florals. Along with the razor sharp acidity, there is very good length and balance across the palate and finish.

Overall: This is an excellent, young GG riesling. There is a great amount of freshness and poise, but with the acid structure to easily age for a good while.

Extremely young, just bottled. Displays the radiant fruit of the warm summer, the nose is ever so slightly yeasty but otherwise clean as a whistle, supple and juicy palate, friendly but firm acidity, floral finish. Lovely wine, with many youthful charms. At the Schloßschänke, Schloss Johannisberg.

Lovely ruby color with an orange/brick rim. Nose takes 45 minutes to come together but is worth it once it does. Tar, violets and mature, ripe fruit (a tough over ripe?). The palate still shows some rough edges. The fruit is pure but there is some oak tannin and high acidity on the finish. Very good but no more today. (90)

BBQ at our house. Popped and poured. The wine was light lemon in colour, with a touch of residual CO2, and looked young. It offered white peach, smoky mineral notes, shy floral notes and white pepper spice on the nose and palate, with some residual sugar, smooth acidity and average to good length. The medium-bodied wine was very sugary, and thus flabby, and too sugary for my taste.

Honey and waffles on the nose with peachy fruit and lemony accents coming across still very pure and fresh. Some petrol.
Dry, full bodied and very nicely rounded without a trace of flabbiness. Heavy set but with vivacious acidity pushing through and making the palate sing. Not as high as the fat lady puts it, but singing nonetheless. Round and minerally with aniseed and licorice notes mixing in with the fruit. Long and pleasent aftertaste.
A good time to pop one open. No hurry though.

A testament to the improvements Masi made in the 1980s, the 1988 Campofiorin is fully mature. Complex, full & expressive, it displays layers of dried fruits, flowers and hints of new leather. The flavours are warm and comforting, and the wine has become very silky on the finish. It should last another decade at this level.

Dunkle Noten, schöne Nase, rauchig. Auf dem Höhepunkt. Drei Tage lang getrunken ohne Vakuum. Ausgeglichen, mittelgewichtig. 13,0% = stimmiger Alkohol. gut! 2017-2022.

Decanted about an hour and drank rather cooled. Still this wine was not really in a nice balance. Too much fruit for the amount of acidity and tannin. Rather meaty and earthy and lots of liquorice.

7/4/18, 5:36 AM - Hi Tartiflette, i had the Domaine Mordorée CNDP 2008 La Reine de Bois yesterday and today. I also tasted other vintages from this estate in the past. This is an "ok-wine" for me but not comperable to the top vintages like 2003 oder 2007. I give it 88-89 points. A wine to enjoy during winter times. It will not improve. Bottles were stored very good. I would recommand to drink it untill 2021. Here are my notes in german language: "Der Wein hat 15% Vol. laut Etikett.

On the palate elegant dark and red berries, earth, autumns and mushrooms and firm acidity. The tannin still has a good bite, but overall the wine is quite mature.
