Very savoury wine, a perfect match with grilled lamb. Notes of blueberry and black currant are paired with black olive and gamey undertones.

Aromas of blueberry, blackberry, smoke. Not as much of a back end as I expected. Firm tannins on the finish. Still relatively young.

Nose was rather closed. Aromas of black fruit predominated with a slight back end. In the mouth, the wine seemed closed off, too.

Fragrant fruit-forward nose of gala apples and lychee. Medium-bodied and just off-dry, finishing dry. A good example of Ontario gewuertztraminer but missing some of the body and floral notes.

Nose begins by being fruit-forward but quickly develops a strong undertone of wet stone and kerosene. Wine ha definitely aged. Flavours of apple, grapefruit, and slight peach follow. There is a slight floral element to the wine, too. Light to medium-bodied, dry, and medium finish.

Garnet-coloured mature wine, purchased directly from Saint-Famille winery in Nova Scotia's Annapolis Valley. Aromas of plums and blueberries, with a bit of gaminess on the back end. Light-bodied with strong acid current. Nice.

A shy nose which takes time to open up. Nose has green apple, citrus, minerals, and a touch of petrol. Flavours follow with juicy apple, peach, and bracing citrus. Dry to slightly off-dry; acidity gives a very refreshing dry finish. Great example of Ontario Riesling!

Delicate nose of ripe strawberry, spice, and cedar. Medium-bodied, very smooth on the palate. Could have a bit more acidity. Brick-red coloured suggests that it won't go much further.

Deep golden colour with a powerful nose. Oak is very prevalent but citrus notes and tropical smells are also clearly present. Very fruit-forward in the mouth, but quickly matched with bracing acidity. Wonderful flavours of passion fruit, pineapple, and sweet citrus, coupled with a slightly savory back-end. Beautiful wine! A fantastic example of fumé blanc!

Very aromatic nose of ripe black fruit, cedar, and tobacco box. Full-bodied and creamy texture. Flavours of blackberries and black currant follow on the palate. A bit lacking in acidity, reflecting a very hot vintage year in Ontario. Overall a very good wine.

On the nose, strong bouquet of kerosene and wet stone predominate. Followed by yellow apple and citrus zest. A dry riesljng with plenty of flavours of lemon and grapefruit with a slight mineral finish. Very long finish. A classic example of Niagara riesling.

Very aromatic nose of blueberry jam, tobacco, and graphite. Medium-bodied wine with good acidity, although not overly complex. Still a bit tannic and could use another year or two in the cellar. Note: bottle is sealed with a synthetic cork -- not impressive for a $40 bottle.

Rich gold colour. Golden delicious apple, pineapple, and lemon drops on the nose. Slight toastiness hints at subtle oak aging. Medium to full-bodied with good oak integration and bracing acidity. Very good wine to pair with food. A bit of a burn on the finish from the 14% alcohol.

Strong boysenberry nose with hints of smoke, black pepper, and eucalyptus. Quite tannic and can probably use a few more years of cellar time.

Rich yellow colour, surprisingly full-bodied for an Ontario geuwertz. Aromatic nose of lychees and tropical fruit, with an undertone of rose petals. Off-dry and oily texture. One of the better examples of geuwertztraminer in Ontario. Excellent value.

Bright garnet colour with only the slightest hint of brick at the edges. Sour cherry and raspberries immediately waft up. Lots of fruit here. Slight earthiness, flowery notes follow. Oak is very slight and beautifully integrated. Medium-bodied with excellent acidity still present. Velvety smooth finish. A great example of what a red Burgundy should be! At $27 a bottle, one of the best value wines I have ever encountered.

Very complex nose. Bright fruit very noticeable, mainly plum and cassis. Good back-end, too, with garrigue-type aroma evident. However, wine tasted rather flat with rather poor acidity and a shorter finish than expected. Considering the brick colour of the wine, the bottle may have been past its prime. Higher mark given for its fantastic nose.

Mildly sweet lemon, green apple, some wet stone and minerality on the nose. Nose is a bit shy. Very sharp acidity, with citrus flavours predominating. Lacking real fruit and sweetness on the attack. Finishes with some bitterness. Too young perhaps?

Golden delicious apple, wet stone, lemon zest, slight kerosene undertone on the nose. Good fruit on the attack but bracing acidity leads to a sharp dry finish. Decent length. Only 10.5% alcohol, so it makes a perfect spring/summer wine. Great example of Niagara riesling.

Ruby red colour with only a slight brick colour along the edges. Very good fruit on the nose, with secondary earthy characteristics, but they're not overpowering. Predominant aromas and flavours are of cherry, raspberry, and general red fruit. Slight aromas of vanilla and barrel aging follow, but again are very well integrated. Bright acidity, great for a 12-year old wine. More light-bodied than a typical Cote-de-Nuits Excellent value.

Bright garnet colour. Good nose. Aromas of sour cherry, cranberry, smoke, and slight barnyard. Great depth of flavour with fresh acidity. Compares very well to the best Beaujolais, and great affordable substitute to Pinot. Still tastes young and could probably keep for another year.
