The cork disintegrated but the wine was still drinking really well. It will probably still drink well for another 3-5 years.

Plan on about 1 hour of decanting before consuming the wine. Its past its drinking age but still drinking average/fine.

I was worried about a case of this wine sitting in the cellar for this long. The wax on the cork is a pain in the neck and even though it was kept perfectly, the cork was dry and needed a lot of care to remove as it was breaking apart.

I thinking it probably needs a couple more years to mellow down as there is still a lot of oak. However, 90mins of decanting did wonders for this wine and it started drinking much better.

Thirty minutes of decanting and it got much better. Fairly abrupt change of taste, in a good way at 30 mins.

Much better than first bottle. Slight tannins, earthy, with some fruit.

Ready to drink now through end of the year, it had softer tannins than I had hoped. Started off well and then had a slight sour aftertaste towards the end [2 hrs after the bottle was opened] - Fairly balanced and mild otherwise.
