Big and ripe wine with lots of dark fruit, sweet tabaco and damp earth. For such a young wine there was lots of depth and tannins are surprisingly integrated.

This wine was not as big and ripe as I would have expected for a 2020 vintage, relative to a 2020 Clos de la Roilette we had recently.

Got red fruit and charcoal on the nose with some smoke. Palate was an explosion of citrus with lots of smoke. The wine is obviously still young and has not put on lots of complexity, but it's an excellent wine.

Marzipan, marzipan and more marzipan, followed by passion fruit and candied orange peels on the nose. The palate had honeycombs, citrus and the candied oranges made an encore. There is a waxines to the wine that gives it a very long finish.

My only two complaints are I was not paring the wine with blue cheese, and we only had a half bottle. This is drinking great and looking forward to seeing how it develops.

This wine really came alive when paired with food. Nose had iodine, black currant and maybe a little black pepper. Palate had a little tar and funk to it, and the tannins are still strong giving it a very long finish.
White - Sweet/Dessert

This wine is cheeses best friend, and they combine to make the perfect desert. Lots of marzipan, orange zest and a little chalky botrytis. On the second glass got some wild flowers. There is a waxy feel to the wine that really coats the mouth and gives it a long finish. This is drinking amazing and can clearly continue to age.

Started drinking the wine after 5 hour decant. On the nose there was fresh herbs with red and black fruit, when paired with food the strawberries came out. Palate was still tannic and the wine clearly needs time, but drank great for being so young.
Red - Fortified
Decanted for about 4 hours and had one glass per hour over the next three hours. Cork was in flawless shape and barely saturated, some mold on the outside but that is to be expected.

The nose was menthol, leather, marzipan and black fruit. This was never fruit forward but as we got more into it the menthol took over and it became earthier.

Mouth was Christmas spices (could be the season lots of cinnamon and nuts), bees wax, fruit and pound cake. The finish was similar but very long lasting. I know this can age longer but this is drinking very well.

Barnyard on the nose with fruit followed by black pepper and tabaco. Once we got to the second glass the nose was more fruit and tabaco.
Sweet and fruity in the palate, tannins are still there but starting to be well integrated. Ready to drink now but will probably improve the over the next 2-5 years.

This was great wine seems fully integrated, it still retains some fruit on the nose but is full of earthy goodness.

Big over ripe blackberries on the nose with a little tabaco and menthol in the background. The palate is more cured meat with fruit in background. Finish is smoky and meaty.
Wine drinks well for being so young but it can clearly age for a long time. I would recommend to drink a bottle young then set it and forget it.

Big nose on the wine with hunny buns and blackcurrant. Gave the wine a 2 hour decant and the palate still felt a little muted, not sure if it needs more age or a longer decant. Even with the muted palate this was an excellent wine and would highly recommend.

2009 Château Barde-Haut St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
The nose is great with lots of fruit and damp earth but the palate is still dominate by the tannins. Bottle has great potential with a few more years.

Big well developed nose with lots of fruit, this is a big ripe bottle that is just what I like and it can age for a while.

2005 Château Pavie Macquin St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
This was a big ripe wine with lots of red fruit, some chocolate and a hint of tobacco. Tannins are still very apparent in the palate, wine feels like it still needs time but it was still great.

Wine had lots of depth with fruit, a little damp earth and smoke. This is the second bottle from this producer and both have been great.

Lots of flowers and tropical fruit. Perfect sweetness for my taste, this a great everyday Riesling.

2018 Kanonkop Paul Sauer Simonsberg-Stellenbosch Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Gave the wine a long decant. Fruit burst to the forefront of this wine with ripe blackberries and black currant, with smoke and sandal wood. Big ripe full palate with lots of fruit and a very long finish.

Happy to have a case of this wine and looking forward to see how it improves, should have a long life ahead of it.

Nose had funk with mushrooms, garrigue with damp earth in the background to start. The second glass brought the fruit more to the forefront with lots of overripe cherries and a hint of tobacco. Palate is very ripe and full bodied with lots of fruit, and strong finish that showed off more of the garrigue and damp earth.

Tannins were well integrated already but could age a few more years, this is a great value for the quality and also a very accessible bottle for all levels of wine enthusiast.

Got lots of flowers and not as much red fruit, with wet earth. Bottle drank very well considering the age.

On the nose the wine was balanced between red fruit and herbs with some damp earth in background. On the palate the wine was not sweet and had subtle tannins, but still managed to be big and bold. (I tend to prefer fruitier CDP's but this was still excellent).
Red
After long decant wine was still a little muted on the nose, but lost of fruit, vanilla and oak. Palate was much better with a full bodied you would expect.

2016 Château Lafon-Rochet St. Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Gave the wine a long decant and it was excellent. Deep fruit, floral and a touch of wet earth and maybe a little barnyard to it. Wine exploded on the palate with perfect balance, wine got a little sweeter when paired with lamb and vegetables.

Wine overall was good and it drank great for a young wine, but it was very little fruit more earthy than for me.

Not much of the classic petrol on the nose, but excellent with lots of green apples and sea breeze. Palate is also great with a perfect balance of sweet and refreshing fruit. Would add some to cellar.

Still has lots of funk on the nose, but once you move over that there is lots of fruit. Palate is better than on the nose great taste, but a touch too sweet for me.
