June 2, 2018 - Mid+ gold; Noted evolution on the nose with aromas of wet chalk, cement, ripe yellow peach to peach melba and oatmeal.
A lively entry with mineral edges, the wine seems to be still hanging in there. Wet chalk in a Tupperware, peach melba moving to rumtopf peaches and honey; there is a grippiness to the mid-palate and an oatmeal overlay that keeps the wine alive. A more linear mid-palate, good complexity and a long finish showing lemon-infused peaches with a lick of fynbos honey. Arguably seen better days but fun to try.

    June 4, 2017 - Alc: 13.5% - 450 m a.s.l. Fourteen months on oak, 90% new French oak.
    Mid to deep gold.
Developed bouquet showing brioche, toast, crayon but also oat flakes and stone fruit.
A rich entry packed with lots of ripe furits: dried pineapple, necatarine and honey on toast. There is a good spine of acid that cuts through the richness and keeps the wine in check. As the wine opened, more button mushroom and forest fungi appeared, adding intrigue to the wine.
Although developed, I liked the mineral elements that kept the wine somewhat restrained despite the ripeness of the fruit. However, as the wine stood in bottle, it became more generous, slightly extracted with more toast than anything. Not going anywhere

December 24, 2011 - Lovely floral nose, reminiscent of evening primrose, perhaps even violets, some linden, and an abundance of citrus. Body supple, hint of lemon rather than lime, with just a touch of tartness and lively acidity. It is a very elegant wine that feels lighter, yet has a pleasant viscosity and leaves a satisfying aftertaste of a dried apricot and some greengage. Overall, this is one of the nicest Chardonnay expressions, true to the character of a well looked after grape and not marred by an excess of wood, instead, gently supported by it.
