Community Tasting Notes 5

  • neilsforest Likes this wine:

July 5, 2023 - First bottle was flawed - excessive barnyard nose and taste which dominated. Second bottle had good nose and length. Really very enjoyable. Not so great day 2

December 8, 2020 - nice Corton, decanted three hours, as one might expect (from Corton and from '06) this was pretty full bodied, had purple fruit and not a lot of structure (but some)... thought of it as four-square all the way... enjoyable / nothing wrong but just nothing to excite the wino's in my house this night... tried it night two (after gassing and fridge-ing) and it had somewhat collapsed... my guess is drink-up

    November 20, 2017 - Slow-ox 30 minutes, tasted over 2 hrs and day 2
-semi-translucent ruby with solid core and mild bricking
-fragrant moderately expressive and nicely complex earth iron faded cherry sous bois
-med/med- acidity, med- weight though plenty of depth soft faded cherry licorice soil slightly medicinal, med tannins; remains very pleasant on day 2 with more pronounced raspberry/black cherry gum drop/liqueur and then some faint oak showing up on the finish
-quite feminine for Corton, in a very good drinking window now, would be excellent save for the medicinal note on the finish

October 14, 2017 - Drinking really well. Layered and complex. Excellent burg from an underrated region and year!

November 13, 2016 - Double Blind 1990 Bordeaux with a Big Infusion of Show Stealing Old Napa (Jason and Tracy's, Mpls, MN): Medium dark clear ruby red color. PNP, drank 1 glass over an hour. Very aromatic, wonderful spice and cinnamon notes, dried flowers, red raspberry, smoke. The palate delivers nice purity, red fruits of cherry and red berries, will spiced, cinnamon and clove, good minerality, some nice tannins with a little bite, medium plus length. Very good showing. 92 to 92+pts.
