November 18, 2020 - Drank on the night of the Boulder Burgundy fest with Frasca make at home meal kit. Drank Tawse Charmes Chambertin 2011 alongside 2002 Latour Romanee Saint Vivant and 2002 Arnoux Vosne Romanee.

    Relative to others:
The Arnoux Vosne Romanee was the most interesting on open. It was dark and had such a profound flavor showing much darker fruits and complexity. Really nice and if you closed your eyes I wouldn't have been that convinced it was even a pinot noir. This was probably the most favorite of the night on open (only to be taken over by the RSV after a few hours!). On day 2 it broke down somewhat leaving mostly leather and earth on the palate and not nearly as much on the nose. Drink now and enjoy!

The Latour RSV need a couple of hours to open up (and was lovely on day 2). Had good depth of flavor and strength on the palate. I would say that the nose wasn't quite as expressive as I would have liked. On day 2 the nose opened up some more somewhat. Lovely. So glad I got to try this.

Tawse Charmes was the most primary but had really good strength of flavors. The smell evolved in the glass and the leftovers actually shined much brighter on day 3 with what I am finding as the typical super expressive Tawse nose. This probably suggests that you should wait before opening these.

Learnings from this -- drinking windows are wider than you think. Producer is probably the most important consideration in my mind right now.

May 7, 2019 - Funky barnyard smell/smelly feet ……… but it blew off after a while. Good structure, medium bodied, soft tannins. Still a bit of red fruit. Some dried fruit. Solid Burgundian and drinking really well now.

November 12, 2013 - Lovely open dark fruit intermingled with typical Vosne spice, Touch of game and truffle. Tannins have mellowed and are well integrated as is oak. Long finish. Quality well above village level. Mature but still a good life ahead.

April 24, 2013 - Volatile and over the top, sadly..

December 10, 2009 - WIMPS December Indulgence - burgundy table (The Ledbury, London): Funky nose, with a hint of the farm, oaky, a bit of mint, structured - really spicy and opulent on the palate, fresh, open and long
