April 8, 2013 - Golden straw colored, nice massive nose of lychees, strong floral notes, dried apricots, golden delicious and slight hints of minerality. With 21g residual sugar this is sweet, make no mistake about it, but the wine comes together nicely on the palate even though it comes along rather heavy at first. Lychee, apricots, guave, a whole bunch of sweet fruit aromas which still manage to remain fresh without getting too sticky at any point. Nice medium-length finish with a little pear schnaps action going on (you get to feel a bit of heat here but I tend to like that sometimes). A nice effort with a nice overall complexity more than worth giving a try.

October 1, 2012 - Discovering Wine: Pale gold and light bodied, the Hogue Gewürztraminer has a nose of apricot, lychee, and a distinct metallic note. In the mouth, tastes of white peach, apricot, and white pepper. The average finish has apricot and lychee.

April 12, 2012 - I guess that I am not a fan of sweet wine, and this was sweet. Too sweet for my liking. Then again, I like the intensity of espresso straight up, so I might not be the best judge. The wine did have notes of apricot and peach, nice smooth finish.

March 19, 2012 - Discovering Wine: The Hogue Cellars Gewurztraminer is a pale straw wine with a light body. It has a nose of pear, floral scents, and a slight earthiness. The scent of lychee is almost completely absent, which is somewhat surprising for this varietal. Soft and off-dry, with tastes of golden delicious, pear, and loads of white peach. The finish hangs in there with mostly pear for longer than you would expect for a light bodied wine. This is very nice, but I personally prefer a Gewurztraminer with the usual healthy dose of lychee. Almost makes me think of Viognier, or an off-dry Riesling.
