January 14, 2024 - The 1990 Beychevelle shows well today, offering a soft, complex, slightly demure but complete nose of blueberry, raspberry, pencil, and potpourri with a touch of brett. This is a little more horsey in the mouth, but the fruit manages to surmount this and finishes nicely. While this isn't a top 1990 St. Julien or a top Beychevelle, it's a satisfying drink.

January 13, 2024 - Nose: Blackberry, dark cherry, leather and cigar notes. Bordeaux fastball of a nose with good maturity and dark fruit. Palate: Opens with a nice mulberry, blackberry and leather note. Bits of spice and cedar beneath that layer and a good amount of clarity on the palate. Finish: Moderate length, but clearly fresh and vibrant.
An over performing bottle of the Beychevelle by all accounts here. Well focused, and quite excellent. -

June 20, 2021 - Medium deep ruby color. Punchy nose of stewed red cherry, red currant with stable. Dry, taut acidity, structured tannins, palate follows through. Medium body. Good balance. Medium finish. GUESS BURGUNDY 90s. 93. (RANKED 4) / RESULT BEYCHEVILLE 90 (RANKED 4).

August 24, 2020 - Bordeaux 1990 horizontal tasting (Fribourg): 1990 Bordeaux horizontal hosted by a private collector. 30 years down the road, the vintage comes across as bold and muscular, youthful and in general not yet open for business or at times closed. Highlighs included Figeac, Haut-Brion, Mouton, Calon Ségur – and to my surprise – Marquis de Terme. See tasting story for more take-aways and the complete line-up.
Tasting note
Very extracted fruit which carries on to an alcoholic palate. Hard to find any signs of aging here which again just re-confirms the level of extraction, I guess. But if you like high-octane Bordeaux and can't find your big wallet, this was actually acceptable overall. -

January 12, 2019 - Deep reflective medium red with lots of sediment. Raspberry jam and cream on the nose. Pleasantly sour raspberries dominate. The acids are still aggressive and balance the integrated fruit very nicely. Probably a few years past its ideal but delicious.
