November 18, 2023 - Nothing has changed since my 2014 Review except, it just keeps getting better. Deep gold color, a nice cross between a killer Sauternes (Yquem?) and a killer Montrachet. Amazing wine with years to go!!

July 25, 2023 - I was hesitant about opening this bottle because of multiple reports of premox for 1998 CSH, but this turned out to be a spectacular bottle. Frantastic intensity with deep, penetrating lime-infused, perfect focus, and searing acidity to go with the depth and intensity. Just so incredibly young at nearly 25 years of age -- showing why it's a waste to open CSH young, or even middle-aged. Cellared since original release.

February 6, 2022 - Deep amber golden colour, telegraphing possible oxidation - which in fact transpired. There is honey and caramel but this is way past its best with a tired palate. There is depth and complexity - but it is just not very nice. Drink 10 years ago.

November 12, 2021 - Still lovely. Honey colored. Petrol overtones. Delightful flavors of honeysuckle, white peaches and soft carmel. Cork impeccable.

June 11, 2021 - tons of petrol and polyurethane, as well as white flowers. Absolutely LOVE the nose. A little ripeness here on the palate.

Rockss and Fruit

(Trimbach Riesling Clos St. Hune) Chalk upon limes upon chalk. Petrol. Slight apricot crushed (no pun intended) by a rock quarry . . . .In the mouth it is just ethereal. It has an elegance I have only encountered in Dönnhoff. Just floats in your mouth. Yet there is so much material. Concentrated but never even the slightest hint of heavy. It is soft. But then after you swallow there are major waves of acidity that extend the flavors on the finish. Almost slatey on the finish. The precision, cut and elegance are unreal. True beauty. Yes this is way too young but is a true masterpiece which I need to get my hands on.
