July 3, 2011 - This wine is a monster! The 07 fruit struts itself nicely. The structure consisting of the amazing fruit, acid and tannin are all present and balanced. This wine will need years to resolve. Having said that if you have multiple don't be afraid to pop a bottle with a lengthy decant. I tasted this day one and it was so primal and raw I put the cork back in and waited for day two. The wine has barely moved, but is showing better. The nose is cassis, berries, and everything ripe and dark. The palate explodes with dense fruit, somewhat port like, but very delicious. The finish has round tannin and is lengthy. A tad bit hot, but I am sure this will integrate with time. This is a 15 year + wine waiting to come together. Excellent value if you have the patience or multiples to baby kill with an extended decant. 100% Carignane. This will improve.
