April 9, 2016 - Dark color, tar, animal nose, ink.
Smokey palate of ripe black cherry. The wine has a super backbone, tannins and acidity so I believe it's good to go for the long haul.
Very nice, able to sustain meat such as duck, or game -

July 15, 2011 - Couleur d'encre! J'étais en Cote Rotie 09. Nez viande, pâte à gâteau. De l'élevage qui évoque le nouveau monde, mais pas en bouche avec une finale plus classique. Attaque fraîche, savoureuse, racoleur mais très bien fait, belle acidité, pas le + long mais large et savoureux. Un style plus fin, moins gros et puissant que les Syrare du passé.91 pts

May 25, 2011 - Tasted blind a few days after opening but kept air tight. Deep black color. Massive new oak in a New World style with tar, black cherries, kirsch, vegetal, rich, dense. Peppery taste, acidic cherries and much more mineral in the mouth than the rich exuberant lush nose. Some heat from the alcohol took some of the pleasure away. Too expensive for what it is but an interesting take on old/new world style Syrah.
