Community Tasting Notes 6

May 31, 2022 - Decanted for an hour - suspiciously darker gold and a hint of oxidation on the nose, mixed with biscuits and floral scents. Better on the palate where limes and biscuits come to the fore.

December 31, 2016 - Compared with Sauzet's 09 Enseigneres. A lighter colour and fresh nose of citrus and flower scents. Fresh on the palate with oily body balanced by acidity with nose notes continuing. I preferred this wine and the Enseigneres seemed a bit clumsy beside it

November 17, 2016 - Off the wine list at Smyth. Forward and appealing aromatics of ripe orchard fruit and tropical fruit with lots of oak spice. The palate offers round and lush fruit with medium acids that keeps the wine fresh. High on the delicious scale as this is forward and easy to drink. Guessing its a shorter-term wine to enjoy in it's fleshy youth.

November 8, 2015 - Knightsbridge Annual Holiday Burgundy/Champagne Tasting and Sale (Northbrook, IL): Tasting, brief note. Ripe and forward with both orchard and tropical fruit. Seems a bit slutty to start, but structure and textures emerge at middle to finish. Still probably best through the next 3-4 years.

September 21, 2015 - Fine Vines Fall 2015 Portfolio Tasting (City Winery - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Rich and almost tropical. Certainly enjoyable from the start, but serious structure sneaks through at the finish. Always one of the most complicated wines because you have to check if it's Chaumées or Chaumes.
