December 30, 2013 - I probably opened this up too early in its evolution, but I really wanted to have a nice red Burgundy with our Christmas meal (and it seemed the lesser of a few different evils). I decanted it 1.5 hours before serving and it did open up nicely eventually — so I would really recommend giving it exposure to air if you are opening in the next few years. Primary flavors were dried red fruits and a very meaty/gamey quality (which was dominant for me), with very smooth tannins. Quite a powerful Burgundy and I think this will age nicely, although it might have a risk of losing its fruit in the medium-term. I think it was in a bit of closed phase, but quite a bit of potential. I got this on sale at Zachys for $45 and think it was a decent buy (for Burgundy).
