July 26, 2017 - Mineral, slate, stainless steel, with spices & pepper, a bit hot (14.9% ABV), including on the nose; legs, and a touch of burn on the long finish, affirm the alcohol content. Deep, opaque purple-red in color with a little fading at the edges. Dry, not a lot of fruit, either to smell or taste; maybe that was lost as the wine continues to age. Not sure we would drink this by itself, but its astringent quality works well paired with a contrasting soft/sweet mozzarella-and-tomato (capresi-style) stuffed chicken breast, watermelon, and fresh corn. Interesting that CT thinks this is three years past it drinking window. Maybe there would've been fruit in 2014, but this wine certainly hasn't turned, faded or backed off.

July 14, 2016 - Grabbed this as a blind buy during a case sale recently and enjoyed it, despite the realization that it might be slightly past its peak. The nose was muted, but the finish was long and surprisingly dry. It lacked a bit of the spiciness I've come to expect in an Australian Shiraz, but the alcohol was well integrated (despite the 14.9% ABV) and the juice was still very much alive. Can't ask for much more from a $6 bottle (normally $17).

May 26, 2012 - Dark and concentrated with a great nose and deep blue / black fruits with an array of exotic spices. Not up to the standard of the Cherubino Shiraz, but a more than adequate compromise.
