October 12, 2015 - The Rare Wine Company and Vinhos Barbeito Madeira Tasting (celebrating a 20 year partnership): I've had the fantastic 1920 Favilla Viera Malvasia a number of times and this 1950, which I’ve never tasted before, compares favorably. This has a dense core of honey, caramel, dried citrus fruits and brown butter. Clean, fresh tasting wine with a punchy, saline, saliva-inducing finish. Remarkable maturity for such a relative youngster. Absolutely delicious.

March 18, 2014 - Chicago Rotating Dinner Series - March 2014 (Aged Rioja) (Paris Club - Chicago, IL): Lots of pomegranate, nuts, and maple syrup on the nose. The palate had a lot of spices, and waxy fruit with a dense maple note. A bit of heat on the finish, but overall had nice balance.
