April 8, 2022 - Not served blind, nor was it opened ahead, as our host generously offered the run of his cellar, and I picked this. In a good place now, but there are decades of life ahead for this wine. It’s just starting to shed some of the fat that came with the 2007 vintage, a bit of a tingle of acidity making its presence felt on the finish. The flavors are all orchard fruit and a dash of the tropical, that fruit salad that the more luscious Rieslings can bring. The low alcohol and vibrant fruit pretty much ensure we would drain the bottle faster than you can type Abst E…wait…how do I get that special character…oh crap the bottle is empty.

August 19, 2019 - Beautiful, regal, both powerful and delicate, so pure. Still quite young. Terrific.

July 8, 2015 - Dinner with Ed Zimmerman, Chris Thile, and Other Cool Folks (White Street Restaurant, NYC): Stunning stuff. Just a terrific young Riesling. Should improve for 10-20 years. (95-??)

October 7, 2013 - Light nose, subtle hints of fruit, clean, no petrol; starts out with excellent acidity, quite rich and lush fruit, a big dose of red apple, but with air, and as the wine warms, that acidity fades, and things get a bit flabby, the palate becomes simple, sweet, pleasant, but quite plain. Just not very exciting, and definitely does not live up to the hype this bottling gets.

July 28, 2010 - Amazingly delicious. tropical fruity nose, no noticeable botrytis, but engaging with flowers, and vanilla. Rich for a spatlese but still extremely refreshing with acid for miles. It's like a willy wonka invention-the array of flavors- including what I'm swearing is caramel granny smith apples.
