December 15, 2020 - Stored well since new and double decanted 1 hr before tasting. Good firm color and rich, ripe fruit. Not clear to me how the fruit is going to evolve from here. My sense is to drink it soon while the fruit is still appealing.

December 25, 2019 - Dry cork required some extra tools to remove. All was well. Purple, a bit inky, light sediment. Well-defined rim variation, slow legs. First aromas are black fruit: blackberry, blueberry, black currant. Then dust, medium toast, hint of cedar and oak. As the glass is swirled, black olive and subtle eucalyptus/mint emerge. On the palate, spices strengthen and it's apparent that the tannins have settled down. Full body, polished texture, long finish, slow legs. Low acidity. Impression: varietally correct, at or near prime, refined. At $57 with tax and shipping, QPR below average. Certainly an appropriate holiday splurge wine. Drink now or in 2020.

May 25, 2019 - Cork came out perfectly intact, showing no seepage whatsoever. Red/brick red color, showing some signs of age around the edges. A good bit of oak, backed by saddle leather and a hint of Cabernet fruit, on the nose. Very firm tannins on the attack, with earth, Rutherford dust, leather, and bitter chocolate flavors evolving through the finish. Not much fruit left here, but perhaps it will open up with a few hours in the decanter. Likely on its last legs, so drink up.

October 12, 2016 - Deep garnet in color with hints of oxblood. Nose of crushed blackberries and leather. Tastes of bing cherries, vanilla, moca, and hint of tar. Needed time to aerate. Was initially bitter and disjointed. After about an hour of aeration the wine came together. Day two it tasted even better. Should evolve nicely over the next 5 years.

November 22, 2014 - Beautiful dark blood red. Diluted cigarette smoke wih red berries on the nose. A Pleasantly sweet red fruit profile frames notes of cigarette smoke, black pepper, and underripe raspberries. A bit extracted and thin-bodies, but well-made and likely to have another five years of prime drinking.
