March 22, 2024 - Still very drinkable, although shorter in length and less complex than it was, still nice cherry notes and balancing acidity.

December 10, 2012 - Very much like the last bottle, lots of cherries, strawberries, citrus rind, and earth. The acidity is quite nice, so much better than the 2011 version. Just really, really tasty.

November 28, 2012 - Consistent with previous bottles although slightly less "fresh" at this point. Still, a juicy, tart red fruit laden rose that went great with some grilled pork chops.

    June 17, 2012 - a bright, juicy wine!

May 26, 2012 - Still a nice cherry nose, with a burst of sweet cherry up front. The cherry dies off, with the finish more strawberry. The acidity seems diminished, but still a good bottle.

Washington Wine Report

(Kaella Sangiovese Ciel du Cheval Vineyard Red Mountain) Sangiovese is surprisingly rare in Washington and the wines rarely brings all that the grape has to bear. This wine comes close. It’s lightly aromatic with fresh cranberries and raspberries along with mineral notes. The palate brings all of Sangiovese’s tart, vibrant acidity along with Red Mountain’s firm tannins and minerality. As a Sangiovese should, this wine will fit in best at the dinner table. Occasionally shows some alcohol. 100% Sangiovese. 14.3% alcohol. 75 cases produced. Sample provided by winery.

(Kaella Winery Rosé of Sangiovese Ciel du Cheval Red Mountain) A very pretty light cherry red color. Spice, strawberry, sour cherry, and bubble gum aromas rise up from the glass. The palate is off dry and has a full feel with crisp acidity and a spice note on the finish. 13.2%. 1.65% Residual Sugar. 50 cases produced. Sample provided by winery.
