October 31, 2023 - Decanted 2 hours. Starts with a beautiful aromas of blackberry, cassis, leather, earth, tobacco, vanilla, spice and a hint of herbal. Loaded with flavor showing blackberry, spice, leather and earth dominating, followed by tobacco and a touch of herbal. Full bodied with a long finish. The tannins have softened. really good now, but should hold/improve for several decades.

August 5, 2023 - Another dry cork! I consistently get dry corks on older Montelena Estate Cabs. Tobacco on the nose. Cassis, black cherry, tobacco flavors.

Cabernet-forward tones of dark red fruit, mocha, and leather. Palate is attractive but not dense, with approachability today without a huge amount of depth. Nice finish.

February 14, 2023 - 3 hrs slow ox, not decanted. Considerably more funk, aromatics and complexity in Sommelier stems. Faint cherry, leather and lots of dust on the soft but long finish. Really nice and a great pairing w tonites filet au poivre.
