Community Tasting Notes 5

January 19, 2015 - While this Meursault Charmes is definitely on the zaftig side - as others note - I still found it quite attractive and curvingly correct. Tropical fruits and a lush creaminess are the primary facets here with a Charmes-mineral-edge underneath. I liked it a lot and it worked really well with small plate cheffy complicated flavor food.

  • Seth Rosenberg Does not like this wine:

September 20, 2014 - HDH Auction (Restaurant Tru, Chicago, IL): Just a quick taste of this. I can't say much about it but with the company it was in, it was very unimpressive. It struck me as heavy without any acid or lift. Some sweet floral and fruit notes, definite oak. This is really ripe and not in balance. Not recommended. Man, I do not like the 2009 White Burgs at all.

September 20, 2014 - Wines Tasted at HDH Auction (Tru - Chicago IL): Unmistakably 2009 with lots of opulent ripe fruit, mostly yellow apple and pear, but some peach hints as well. Sweet spice, floral hints, good structural elements bring good balance from middle to end. Good now.

September 20, 2014 - HDH auction tasting at Tru (Chicago, IL): Likely overshadowed by all the Selosse wines that preceded my tasting this, I found this had plenty of fresh fruit and almonds on the nose. The palate however was quite fat and hot. Could have used a bit more acidity to round things out.
