March 1, 2024 - Syrah - N Rhone vs SA with the N London Crew; 2/29/2024-3/1/2024 (La Cabotte): Well put together wine with a supremely engaging nose and good structure. The table's joint #1 WOTN but for me it didn't score in the top 3 - the elements were all there but somehow didn't seem to be pulling in the same direction. I get there sense there may be something in 2009 N Rhone which doesn't quite balance for me.

February 29, 2024 - Syrah - Rhone vs SA - Cabotte with the NLWTS (Cabotte): Super peppery, brambley nose. Very pronounced. Really delicious; totally dark fruited, moreish acidity and just enough tertiary/complexity to round it all off. Still super youthful. Fantastically harmonious.

February 29, 2024 - Syrah at Cabotte with the TWS North London Group (Cabotte, London): Deep and dark red, a luscious nose that I couldn't get enough of. Very expressive and joyous. A bit more on the red spectrum than I was expecting but very pleasingly so, it contributed to the sleekness and lightness of touch that made this wine feel very refined. Elegant was the word I wrote down, and this ended up being my #2 of the night. A shame that I only caught on as he approached retirement!

January 17, 2023 - Not as good as the last one 2 years ago, pretty spicy (cloves), the fruit lost a bit his intensity. Still very good, but not (anymore) on the level of its 2010 counterparts.

February 19, 2022 - Consistent with note 18 months ago. Super nice and refined hermitage. I guess many hermitage fans would tell you to keep this, but for me, it is absolutely ready to go now. Still pretty tannic to keep it energetic and tight
