Community Tasting Notes 20

December 26, 2019 - A surprising streak of savory that I wasn't expecting this time around but the farmyard funk noted by others still remains. Not really better with additional age, I would suggest to those still holding to PnP!

June 16, 2018 - When a wine has to say right on the front of its label that "its not a rose, its a Poulsard" (translated from the French) that's a little hint I suppose. Or it might just be Ludwig Bindernagel's idea of a joke. Alice Feiring has a nice piece on Ludwig complete with a picture of a vineyard shot with a cigarette in his hand -- oh so tell me just how does that work? Great for the palate n'est pas? Well, Ludwig, you're in good company - I saw a picture of the great Janicis Robinson sneaking a fag between tastings, (and she is an admitted Cigar smoker) so I guess tobacco deadened taste buds and great wine tasting DO go together (not).

IN ANY EVENT, the wine is medium colored (I've had pinots that were more lightly colored), light, sprightly, full of acids and bright fruits - think cranberries, raspberries, tart plum and cherry, with hints of smoke and earth on the finish. Nice and no need to apologize in advance Messr. Bindernagel for any potential shortcomings of color or flavors! But seriously, smoking? Really?

October 25, 2016 - 'Ce n'est pas du rose c'est du Poulsard'. Floral nose, cranberry fruit. A wonderfully fresh palate of light red fruit, orange peel, earth and licorice pastilles. Great, feminine Poulsard.

June 14, 2016 - Interesting; Drinks older than its years; Slight bit of farmhouse/funk; Light color; Rusting; Medium weight yet very transparent; Interesting and different - just not sure if it is approachable

August 9, 2015 - Beautiful wine tonight. Earthy nose, dark fruit. A palate of cranberry fruit, licorice and orange peel. Has settled down a lot now, in a good place. Real Poulsard. Bon vin.
