    November 12, 2014 - I have found that Bedrock wines requires the following rule. Open, pour small taste. re-cork. put in fridge. drink next day. That exposure to air is vital to fully appreciate this wine. I like this wine a lot. I found the nose reminiscent of some St Joseph wines. violet, candied blackberry, anise. vibrant purple. highly aromatic. mid to full weight. Maybe not as powerful as some other more denser syrahs, but to me, this is more versatile. not feminine, not masculine - kind of right in the middle. The finish appears to be short at first, but there is a sneaky long streak of blackberry and minerals that linger on for quite some time. And there are those violets. So pretty. While I tend to have quite enough wines from California, I think I will always find a way to buy Bedrock.

    October 31, 2014 - I allowed this wine over four hours to decant based on prior experience and it needed every minute of it. The wine remained very cloudy - almost murky - through the entire evening. It actually paired well with Chili on a cold night because of its solid spice and pepper core - but I would be very hesitant to drink this by itself or paired with anything mild. I'm not sure it will improve with age but I would not expect it to decline for a couple of years. Pair correctly and open when ready!

    October 30, 2014 - Nice dark fruit with blackberry and meat, but needs time to open up as still too much menthol and tartness for me for the first couple hours to fully appreciate the underlying fruit for a while..

    June 15, 2014 - 3 hr decant. Purple-black. Smoke, bacon fat, blackberry, blueberry, white flowers, white pepper. Takes a while to open up but then it is a huge hedonistic mouthful.

    April 19, 2014 - At first PnP showed a restrained palate, but this beauty opened up after about 1.5 hours and really strutted its stuff after 5 hours. Drank over 5.5 hours. The gorgeous bouquet was the highlight of his bottling with its beguling floral aromas and notes of blueberry, plum, vanillin, iodine, & later bacon fat & spice. Concentrated fruit-forward palate with notes of dark fruit, meat, bacon, dark licorice and clove. Good mix of acidity adjoining fine chewy gritty tannins and a lush lingering finish.
