Community Tasting Notes 3

September 28, 2018 - Last of three bottles, and the best. Medium red with brown edges. Similar tasting notes - leather, earth, with some classic old Nebbiolo sweetness on the finish - but this bottle was cleaner, smoother and more graceful. Fine high acidity. Great paired with butter fried breaded veal cutlets. Sometimes not sure if this is real bottle variation or just better food pairing. Drinking at peak right now.

January 14, 2018 - Light body, slightly brown rim. Still some tannins. Opened up after decant to leather, tar. A bit rustic.

February 3, 2016 - Blind tasting of a few Barolo wines with some friends. The 85 is still more dense in color than the 71 Riserva, leaving it with a color of ruby-red in the glass. The wine offers sweetly aromas of dried fruits, prunes, balsamic notes, figs, candied oranges and withered rose petals.
There is still plenty of demanding acidity left on the palate to make a vivid impression. Very fine-grained tannins and coolly 13.5% abv. The wine appears to subsist on its acidity, possesses a rather cool stylistics and uncovers notes of plum juice, aceto balsamico and cherry. Long-lasting aftertaste.

Pflaumenjus, balsamisch, Kirsche. Langer Abgang.
