November 24, 2023 - Brought this to dinner hoping it would be ready to pop and pour....it was ready...a little too ready in the sense that it had hardly any fruit, consisting instead of earthy flavors. The dinner group gravitated more toward the 2011 Produttori Asili initially. What this wine had going for it was it resolved tannins and mellow balance, and when it was paired with food, it actually brought out some fruit flavors in the wine and then the group started to drain the Einaudi while eating. I've only had this bottle since 2014 so its possible that it was not stored in ideal conditions for its first decade or it might be that this is now past prime. I really enjoyed this with the meal and would have continued drinking it after the meal had there been any wine remaining.

September 5, 2016 - Popped open and decanted. Let sit for 4 or 5 hours to open up. Garnet color, caramel color in centre. Not a lot of fruit left on the aromas, mainly a caramel, vanilla, tarry aroma, with a touch of violet florals. A touch ethyl acetate with the tarriness.
Overall medium to full bodied. Leathery feel, a slight thickness to the wine. Enough acidity to hold the wine but I can taste the move towards flabbiness as the acidity begins to fade. Cherry, vanilla, tar and especially caramel dominate on flavors. Dusty tannins, still drying. Nice smooth finish.
I think this has seen better days. But still a tasty drink. A bit rustic feeling on the finish. Nice overall depth.

February 11, 2013 - I made the mistake of first attempting to drink from this bottle immediately without a decant - major mistake. It did open up however after a little time in the glass. What remained the second day was excellent.
