January 8, 2020 - Another Year, Another Napa (aka Winter in Wineland IV); 1/5/2020-1/11/2020 (Napa/Sonoma California): Amazing what some age does. Tried this blind and never would have guessed what it was. This didn't come across as a merlot driven wine. Fruit was all darker. Bit more pepper. It was drinking very nicely though. Still much life left.

October 4, 2019 - Tasted blind. This wine is still drinking nicely but definitely on the downward path with some first nasty age aromas showing on the palate - although at this point with very low intensity so that it might be even seen as a feature. But definitely don‘t wait much longer.

TN: Beautiful nose with stems, cola, mint and dark and red fruit. Nicely aged and very balanced and precise. Dark and red fruit, some nice barnyard funk but especially a lot of herbal aromas and a nice minerality on the palate. Blind I thought of a Napa Cab blend with a substantial part of Cab Franc with some age. The structure is nice with soft tannins and a good freshness. The only thing that really brings this experience down is the hints of hosin sauce which indicate that the wine might soon die.

Decanting: Not decanted, not decant needed.

September 12, 2019 - Tasted blind. Slightly milky colour. Mixed basket of dark, blue and red berries; aging notes of leather and barnyard. Also herbal notes. Not overly expressive and lacking linearity of aromas I found. Lacks a bit of structure on the palate where the fruit profile showed mostly red berries. Unwanted acidity keeps lingering on the finish. Maybe just bottle variation, but my guess is best not to wait up if you have any left. Can only compare this vs a much younger 2013 which I found was still a bit rough around the edges when tasted not too long ago. Seems to be ideal drinking window is likely somewhere 10-15 years here. Will continue to explore. Given critics scores and prict tag there must be more to it than I have thus experienced...

September 5, 2007 - ($100) Jess Jackson Three Terroirs Tasting: Primarily Merlot. Pleasant leafy nose. Pretty violet. Cherry. Softer. Tasty and ready to go. Smells like the vintage with a "rusty" flavor. Not bad, particularly for 1998. Has aged nicely.

August 1, 2006 - At at tasting at Verite. Very brief notes: raisin nose with eucalyptus and mint notes, and a mushroom finish. Not a favorite.
