April 13, 2024 - Intense raspberry greets you with whiffs of cream floating off the top of the glass. Young, young young...Not like me or the or the old farts that I drink with that happen to love young everything if you know what I mean ;-) I am in the classic camp. I love matching my wrinkles to my love's wrinkles. The good news is that I can probably get there with this wine in about 10 year's time. The question, how will 15% alcohol ruin things or keep the wheels glued on. Time will tell. This is cozy, plush, delicious, and persistently coarse with the warmth of raspberry liquor, hinting at a big Merlot from almost anywhere. This is where California can make French wines (not a typing mistake). For the old men, Drink, for this old'ish man, HOLD_

March 10, 2024 - Having just drunk a few 09's recently, which is a 100 pt BDX Pomerol bomb, I was curious as to why Monica Lerner had downgraded this 2010 from Robert Parkers original notes, which had it skirting 98+pts ....
Gave it 1-2h decant, and upon pour was a bit shy, despite its panther black colour...... after 10-15mins in the glass she revs up and changes into more of what I was hoping. Next days 2glasses left in the bottle though are skirting with perfection..... is it just that this vintage needs more time in the cave or a half day decant? Either way, I shall buy more and store away in snaffle sparingly. -

October 13, 2023 - Celebration for Oct babies: Wasn't sure if this was a right or left-bank but reasoned that if the previous wine was a right-bank, this must be one too. Another modern monstrosity but slightly more palatable than the Tertre Roteboeuf. Even though it had similarly obnoxious oak and creamy, chocolate notes, this had more nuance and depth. Such a shame that this estate went over to the dark side.

May 4, 2023 - Expressive youthful nose displaying intense black fruit, blackberry, black cherry, ink, licorice, lavender, pronounced luxurious oak, sweet spices and crushed rocks. Excellent concentration, layers upon layers of intense black fruit, silky and fluid, bright acidity, strong limestone, and a long intense black fruit driven finish with ink and vanilla/oak at the end. This is a well made big scale modern Pomerol.
