December 3, 2023 - Deep ruby. Sweet smoked cedar, cassis, menthol, scorched earth and fresh leather. Rich black fruit on the palate and supple tannins. Very savoury and will be good for another 5-10 years; in its peak drinking already. Solid grand cru.

May 19, 2023 - Very good, leafy and smoky, powerful but also elegant, blackcurrants and blackcurrant leaves, long. Lower alcohol compared to warmer vintages and it benefits the wine.

November 24, 2022 - Not my normal M.O., but tonight we had three guests debating the nose, flavors, and merits of this bottle. All agreed it just kept getting better as it opened in the caraffe. Tasting notes included currents, blackberries, blueberries, cherries, vanilla, licorice, leather, and earth. It changed throughout the 40 or so minutes it took us to consume the bottle. For instance, vanilla disappeared completely after about 10 minutes.
Wondering how much more it would changed if we had not consumed it so quickly. I’m giving it a high rating because of it’s complexity.

September 10, 2022 - Fourth bottle from a full case acquired at auction in 2020. Drunk over two days. As delightful as the previous bottle in December 2021. If anything, better on the second day than on the first. An almost delicate, and certainly feminine Pauillac, but this does not need raw power to age, its sheer balance and harmony will do the trick. Flowers and gravel and crushed red berries, pure and elegant, paper-fine tannins, delightful now and over the next 10-20 years.
