November 15, 2022 - This was quite the experience. Started horrible. Cork top half came out...my fault for not using my ah-so. Managed to get the bottom half out with said ah-so. Whew. OK, smell was great but first taste was monolithic wall of slightly off dark cherry. But after about an hour in the glass, this turned into a fantastic wine. Integrated tannins, same dark fruit but with some complexity, and a long smooth finish. When opening, suggest patience.

January 9, 2021 - Wow. Totally ripe. Lots of various berries. Balanced tannins. Delicious

September 12, 2020 - Deep purple, but slight bricking on the edge. Nose of dark red fruit and earth. Stewed cherries maybe, with a hint of mushroom and forest floor. Still has plenty of fruit flavor, though some tertiary flavors are coming through. It’s amazing to compare this to the 2006 concept, which has very little fruit left and is fully in its tertiary phase (and not as good). Decanted for 45 minutes before first glass. As the night went on, the wine softened, and more tertiary flavors came through. This wine is drinking well now and likely has one or two years left before into full earthy flavors.

December 27, 2017 - 1 Hour decant... could have gone for 2 hours, but opened up into something very elegant. Blue/dark fruit. Touch of chalk grip on the finish. Enjoyed very much in the Napa/Bordeaux lane.

(Cain Concept The Benchland) 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc, 12% Petit Verdot. The Concept displays aromas and flavors of macerated cherry, blackberry, and black plum. Earthy bottom notes of dark chocolate, coffee, and mushroom anchor the broad and generous palate, focused by firm, dusty tannins. This wine demonstrates the Cain style in a ripe vintage, maintaining its balance while showcasing the lush, purple benchland fruit. Winery Spotlight: Cain Vineyard & Winery
