Community Tasting Notes 5

July 30, 2016 - Double-decanted. Mahogany color of moderate depth. Expressive Nose: leather; old wood furniture; hints of mint, celery seed, and beef stew. Medium-light bodied. No tannin. Medium acidity. 12% alc. not noticeable. Smooth, with rustic flavors; fruit seems to be falling out, but there are some non-descript red fruit aspects still hanging around; leather; hint of cherry pit on the finish, which is medium-short in length and medium intensity. This is doing quite nicely for its age, and is a very pleasurable drink today; that said, this is Past Peak, and is a Drink Now wine. This was one of my top wines of the tasting.

April 26, 2015 - Very forward and ripe, almost candied nose of red fruit and chocolate covered earth. Silky and full in the mouth, but one dimensional compared to the Bordeaux.

December 22, 2011 - From an excellent looking bottle with a very high shoulder fill, this wine looked solid with a deep red center and red/orange rims. The nose took a while to show medium- intensity red stone, roses, and a hint of sap.

In the mouth the wine was medium bodied with a nice rounded structure and moderate length. However, it was not particularly complex. While this bottle was only open for an hour and a half before it was consumed at the Village Pub in Woodside, I doubt that it will get appreciably better.

November 6, 2010 - The last bottle of Inglenook from the 60's, in our cellar. Still drinking well, unbelievable!

January 3, 2009 - Unmistakably Inglenook. Plenty of life left in this bottle. Characteristics of leather, current, graphite and cocoa.
