December 30, 2014 - Superb. Very very long. Sweet, but the rancio tang keeps it in perfect balance. 19%

November 7, 2011 - This is just a lovely, well priced Madeira. For a Malmsey, this is not too torrefacted, heavy or sweet. This has a lovely lightness about it, with crisp orange zest, citrus, dried fruit and nuts. Tangy, with good length. Too bad it only comes in a 500ml bottle, as this is sooo easy to drink.

October 13, 2011 - From Madeira to USA: A Madeira Master Class (Astor Center, NYC): Bottled in 2009. My second taste of this wine and it continues to impress. Medium caramel in color. Heavier than the other wines in this tasting thus far, but not clumsy. Figs, fruitcake and lively citrus zest. A bit of (an unusual) pine needle wiff which added interest. Nice expansion on the palate with good persistance. For a relative youngster, this shows good authority. There is more of this aging in casks and this will be a wine to follow for future bottlings.

March 24, 2011 - Blandy's Madeira Bicentenary Celebration (The Cooper Square Hotel, NYC): [1994 was one of the best years of the decade in terms of quality. Due to the warm and dry weather over the summer months, the harvest had an early start. Yields were very good and the quality level of Malmsey outstanding. There has been two bottlings of this wine. The first Colheita, bottled in 2000 as the Blandy's Harvest 1994. The remaining casks continued to age in the warm lofts of the Lodges in Funchal. In 2010, a further single cask was bottled and this is the wine we taste today. Only 2,832 bottles of the single cask were released.]
This wine provided a terrific start to the tasting. Light tawny in color with very little lightening on the rim; some orange glints. A slight harshness on the nose. Flavors of almond paste, crème brûlée, and orange peel cascade on the palate. Excellent mouthfeel. Quite sweet and rich, with medium levels of acidity and very good length. Nice lifted citrus zest notes. Lovely sensation of freshness on the back end.
