October 27, 2023 - Pretty showing for the 88 Latour today, coiled on opening, blue fruited, moving to cinnamon stick. Compact but opens up with air. 88s are sneaky good, classic (I bet the 2014s will one day turn out this way). Not a ton of tobacco on this wine, so lacked the 2nd gear and elegance of the 89 Lafite next to it but very good and still some runway left.

August 18, 2023 - This is in its prime! Beautifully robust and whole. Very silky and elegant, rounded tannins, and delicate acidity! Typical Pauillac - cigar box, tobacco, cherries, cellar, forest floor. The best bit - the finish. No words to describe it. It was long, very long, and felt like bliss. Worth every penny - drink up.

July 30, 2023 - From a magnum with near perfect (high to cork) fill. Purchased on release at (the now closed) Beltramos in Menlo Park.
Dark Red color, blackish brick rim.
Intense nose of black currants, licorice and hints of tar.
Big mouthful of black cherries. Medium weight with a finish of cherry fruit.
For LaTour this one is a bit lighter than some but remains a very pleasant drink. Bravo.

July 4, 2023 - Stern, austere, and rustic, this is a severe style of Latour with peppery, tart, piquant red fruits and a short, crisp, bright, herbal, red-berry finish. Drink from 2023-2030.

May 13, 2023 - half of the bottle 2 hours in decanter, remaining in bottle. Started with wine from decanter. No difference with wine from bottle. Signs of a brownish rim. Nose beautiful with earthy notes, leather, continued in the taste with dark fruit , nice acidity, long. Lacking the power, but smooth and elegant. I can not imagine further improvement in future.

(Chateau Latour) #2; COLOR-dark; NOSE-very interesting; a black raspberry component; pretty tight; a little old leather component; little hint of bell pepper; TASTE-very dry; medium to full bodied; well made; good structure; still youthful in a lot of ways; the rounded edges are a little awkward and tight; getting a roasted red pepper on the mid-palate; this is bone dry; not the Oak Monster, but a little too much wood; nice leather component; great on the attack, but gets a little short on the finish; very solid & well made; RP-91; WS-87; GV-90+

(Château Latour Grand Vin) Chateau Latour Vertical with Robert Parker and Latour's Frederic Engerer: Good color; nose of leather, cigar box, and a bit of tar; nice cedary opening notes; rich; turns to coffee on a big mid-palate; very long finish 95+ pts. (Parker described it as "not showy, but good.")
