March 16, 2024 - Cork broke, but did not disintegrate. Opened 4 hours before, decanted after two hours. Tannin well integrated, still has deep purple color. Has several years of life likely before it begins to decline. Black currant, blueberry, and blackberry; Nose, spice box, cedar and violets. Last bottle.

December 24, 2022 - Great bottle of Syrah. In a great spot right now, just beautiful Central Coast Syrah with a solid fruit and well resolved tannins. Doesn’t appear in decline but not sure I’d see upside of long term aging, will try another in a couple years.

August 6, 2021 - Side by side with 2006 mag... I thought the '07 was drinking better.

May 23, 2021 - From a mag....opened for the 2nd day of the '21 Wine-o-palooza. Slow ox'ed for 4 hours then decanted for 1 hour, then consumed through the rest of the night. Hint of licorice or fennel to the nose, subtle meaty notes...with time sarsasparilla forms on the nose as well along with pink peppercorn. Excellent strength remaining to the red/black berry fruit which is very smooth on the palate. With time, some mushroom forms on the back end. This one is in a lovely place but certainly more time to evolve given the larger format.

May 22, 2021 - Wineapolooza in Atlanta; 5/21/2021-5/23/2021 (My house): This magnum bottle was a terrific surprise from Mark. These Lillians are just so full of pure fruit and tasty. In my previous notes from a 750 I noted how surprised I was that this was drinking so young, even more so from the magnum. This is fruity Syrah rather than a savory, but still hints at the complexity to come with its peppery nose, and notes of sa spatula, roasted fennel and umami.
Unfortunately the corks on every older Lillian I have had (including this one) have been awful and falling apart. As much as I would like to cellar some of this for another decade, I don’t think the cork would make it.
