Community Tasting Notes 4

March 9, 2017 - Though not nearly as great as the 2002 or 2006 that were tasted side by side, the 1999 was quite enjoyable with length and expression if not the elegance and layered complexity of the other two.

March 8, 2017 - Lucien Le Moine Dinner with Mounir Sauoma (Sepia): In a flight of 99/02/06. My least favorite of the three by a margin. This was a beautiful wine with a weightless body that was impressive, but lacked depth and precision in flavors. The nose was pretty with cherry, plum and dried flowers. Palate is equally pretty and weightless, but was straightforward in tasted. One to drink up, I think.

March 8, 2017 - Lucien Le Moine Dinner with Mounir Sauoma (Sepia - Chicago IL): In 99/02/06 vertical. Simple and fun, while still showing Amoureuses' unique weightless charm.

July 13, 2008 - Impressive, fragrant, with great complexity. Most surprising was the fairly high level of acidity which gives this wine some snap all the way through to the long finish. Tightness on the palate betrays the youth of this wine.
Copious spices, slightly cooked raspberry, and cherry flavors along with some notes of violets. Wood influence in the background. Tried alongside the 2003 which also acquitted itself extremely well. Wait 5+ years on the 99.

91 points today; almost certain to climb.
