April 20, 2022 - Birthday Drinks (Casa Esperanza): Another Humbert Freres bottle that I had more than a decade ago, and which has not improved much in bottle. Nothing wrong with this - it was an easy to drink, enjoyable wine, that showed of its terroir quite well. It just lacked a bit of complexity and character. A touch disappointing in that regard, especially for a wine from a strong Budgundy vintage, and having had so much time to mature in the bottle. The nose here was pleasant enough, with notes of red cherries and berries, earth and meat, sprinkled with a little dose of spice. The palate had a decent depth to it, with a clear, clean feel lent to its cool flavours of cherry and sweet red berries by a spine of fresh acidity. There was a decent sense of transparency to the wine, but little in way of complexity. The finish, with its little notes of spice and herb, felt a little short as well. Overall though, a pleasant enough drink, with a nice brisk feel about it. I actually preferred it some 10-11 years ago.

June 8, 2021 - Quite nice. More dark fruited. Good depth and balance. Drinking well.

February 14, 2021 - Elegant and precise nose of wild strawberry, black cherry, rose petal, balsamic, oak and slate. Palate structured and fresh, red cherry tartness with a hint of spiced plum toward the back of the palate and a long slightly sweet violet finish. Really civilised - medium complexity, 91-92.

February 25, 2018 - Small taste, courtesy of John. Light ruby color with soaring aromatics of florals, cherry, mineral and earth. Terrific weight and balance across the palate, with good length in the finish. Cherry and mineral. Absolutely gorgeous; elegant. Not sure of this was decanted or was prepped in any way, but damn is it drinking well. 92-93 pts.

December 31, 2015 - not a good timing to open, kinda watery, the nose were so tight, poured in decanter but still not much improve.
