    August 22, 2019 - Compared 2006 and 2010 next to each other. Interesting wine, liked it quite a bit. Nose of red fruit with some spices and earthy scents. the 2006 was meatier, the 2010 more mineralic and my preferred wine (93pts). The palate is crisp and clean, there is a tannic punch like you find it in a Sangiovese. Great to see such fresh, drinkable wines from Sicily and not another thick southern bruiser.

    March 5, 2019 - A nice example of Etna Rosso. Dried red fruits with a bit of freshness and nice brick dust minerality. A nice wine, but not fresh enough for what I enjoy.

    March 14, 2014 - Mature earthy bitter cherry with a hint of coffee. Interesting, but ultimately not for me.

    May 9, 2012 - 2012 - Hi, Jonathan! (Paradise Pavilion @ MBFC): Alcohol :: 14.8%
    altitude 600meter. Pre-phylloxera, un-grafted vines (50-100yrs old). Opened for 8hrs. Garnet core, brown hue. This has the wildness and funky character, due to un-grafted old vines? Bitter, herbs, dark and red cherries aromas that is quite pungent and powerful. Medium bodied, loaded with energy and freshness. Tannin is firm but already show good integration. Soil, earth with a touch of grounded coffee bean, dark chicolate bitterness. Some red cherry and blackberry fruits hiding underneath. Quite long, but bitter which I don't really enjoy.

    May 9, 2012 - Jonathan visits Singapore (Pavilion Paradise, MBFC): I thought this was a pretty interesting wine with a nice ring of quality to it. Interesting stuff - unique enough alongside another bottle on the same flight to guess pick them out as a pair of Etnas, but quite difficult to put into words. Opened 8 hours before before serving, it semlt almost like a red Burgundy, with some earthy funk, some soil, some game meat, tripe almost, and a whiff of mountain cheese - a very funky nose - along with a little underlayer of wild berry fruit and perfumy flowers. Intriguing. The palate, if anything, was more akin to a Northern Rhone than anything else I could bring to mind, lined as it was bright, fresh acidity and firm but very fine tannins, almost powdery in its aspect, and tasting of fresh black cherries and berries, some umami mushrooms and a nice hint of bittersweet herb. With time in the glass, it took on nuances of cracked pepper and smoky spices drifting into a slightly flowery finish. Interesting wine, and pretty good given some time and air.
