August 14, 2019 - Lots of bricking on opening. Sous bois and red berries match aromatically and on the palate. Very dry tannin on entry with faint acidity. Fairly simple and straightforward at this point, the nuance and evolution of prior bottles has melded away. One bottle remains and based on this bottle there is no need to hold it any longer.

December 15, 2018 - First bottle in 18 months. Pulled the cork to reveal a saturated plum color on the bottom. In the glass this possesses more bricking than my last bottle.
Aromatically pleasing with red fruits and fainter sous bois. Obviously maturing, the tannins are fully integrated without the dryness of a prior bottle. The framework on the acidity has waned, though energy remains. Predominantly presents a primary red fruit compote with subtle spice notes. Lighter mouthfeel and viscosity.
Day 2 - Similar to my last bottle the vibrancy picks up modestly on the second day, with an improved persistence on the finish.
An enjoyable bottle this probably continues to drink well for 2-4 years, but maturity is at hand.2 people found this helpful Comment -

May 9, 2017 - Pulled the cork to reveal a saturated plum color on the bottom. In the glass this was a dark ruby with some bricking. Served in Burgundy stemware. The initial aromatic impressions were not encouraging. This initially presents with menthol and stewed fruit. Blind I would have never picked this as a Burg based on the aroma.
The menthol notes also showed in a 2003 Vougeraie NSG Les Corvees we consumed about 18 months ago. That bottle exploded with sous bois and thus far those aromas are missing from this glass.
Moving on, the palate happily does not match the aromas. The tannins are fully integrated with nice polish. The acidity builds from the entry, and hangs on with energy for an extended and persistent finish. This has background spice that drafts in behind the acidity. The fruit composition on the palate starts with raspberry, tart cranberry, black cherry, and a bit of white pepper. Faint chalky notes.
Writing this note during the course of consumption, this wine is already changing. The tannins are turning a bit dry consistent with an Italian Sangiovese.
After 90 minutes this continued to evolve and change. The palate does not have the stewed fruits the aroma hints at, and the wine is vibrant notwithstanding the hot temperatures of the vintage. Half the bottle to be conserved overnight.
Day 2 - The aromas are modestly improved, but still tighter than expected. On the palate this remains vibrant. There is a lingering mineral finish that is more subtle than day one though longer. The dryness of tannin from day one has faded.
Overall, this bottle was very enjoyable. Surprisingly vibrant, good fruit, and fine minerality and length. Drink or hold.1 person found this helpful Comment -

December 27, 2008 - Tight, too young to drink. Wait another 4 years. That being said, nice nose and initial taste of slightly burnt red cherries. No complexity, but too tight to tell what may develop.

July 23, 2006 - Delightful burgundy, a little rough on the finish but had a great nose with lots of cherry.
